I wrote a few words about it acople of ys ago brill.com/display/book...

there's a Hasidic Yiddish play about the Yossele affair, so while waiting for Riklis's series one can also see this story narrated from a Hasidic perspective, in heymish Yiddish, and -needless to say - with no women on stage.

thanks! we begin in the pol-lit commonwealth, but then we show how Hasidic storytelling travelled with Hasidim south- and westward, incl US and Israel.
