You don't suck, it's awesome that you're making these for folks, even if they are a little late.

The pleasure was ours. We're not surprised you were running a bit short seeing and hearing how busy you've been all over the event, but if you do ever want to ask more we will never pass up the opportunity to talk about it.

Thank you though, we tried to make them something succinct but whole.

A huge shout out to @khonri.com who ran this event with not just amazing prompts but some neat tech support in the form of the feeds and @muzetrigger.bsky.social for pushing us with questions so often throughout the month.

Thank you everyone who came with us, and sorry we're so antisocial.

We are delighted to have been able to, and we're really glad you enjoyed it.

And well, that might be it for now. Graduations days don't really apply to them. And details on all these are laid out more poetically in the WIP.

We have some of the early celebrations of the Federation where Bashantri returned to join other Knights of the Order of the Final Flame in order to march through the city.

For more specifics let's look at the early third era when Celian & Bashantri is set and the specifics they engage with.

We have a state funeral and a coronation, with Celian providing both dresses.

The resumption of the calendar celebrations after the plague which comes with an incredible feast.

And that, is, well, a very long ramble on law and order in Castine, and by extension, the New Federation.

But none of it is criminalised, and people are offered support with problems as alternatives to substance use. Mana intoxication, and its volatile effects on memory is even used in therapies. Efforts to try and get people addicted to a product are seen as a crime, and gambling is outright rejected.

Alcohol, in minor amounts, see previous comments about light beer strengths, is common, as is pipe weed, but most other effective drugs are under the purview of the School of Medicine, and things like caffeine are seen as a strange foreign choice. 'A stimulant used to work harder, how horrid?'

To return for a moment to the idea that Castine is a well lit city. It is common for the Companions, the city's sex workers and therapists, to meet people in broad daylight, or even at Guard Houses, and for guards to be present in Companion Halls, included as clients.

If feel forced to a crime, that is an incredible valid defence, and the agency of the accused party is very much a factor in consideration when cases are being heard in the courts. Here is where the rehabilitee options are offered as a first course, but rejecting them warrants those harsh sentences.

This is to say, if the people of the New Federation will hold those in power responsible for the harm done to their subjects. Death sentences have been historically imposed for individuals who never laid a hand on people, but signed off on policy that negatively affected hundreds or thousands.
September 23, 2025 at 5:30 PM
Finally, and especially since the Complacent Kings, the New Federation puts a lot of meaning on harm indirectly caused. The old saying is that 'a Thane should starve before their people,' and the idea of causing mass suffering being somehow different to directly causing harm is rejected.
