“I am not interested, nor will I ever be interested. I'm 61, and I hope to be able to remain uninterested in using it at all until I croak. ... The other day, somebody wrote me an email, said, ‘What is your stance on AI?’ And my answer was very short. I said, ‘I'd rather die.’” 🫡
Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro says 'I'd rather die' than use generative AI
Del Toro's new Frankenstein adaption reimagines Mary Shelley's 1818 Gothic novel. Frankenstein was like a tech bro: "creating something without considering the consequences," he explains.

Being an artist is like "when i finish this art project i am going to reward myself for working so hard by making this new art project"

Over and over until you die.

We're constantly speaking up against AI for ethical reasons, but this is no lesser concern.

While LA is burning, ChatGPT and others are swallowing and wasting ACTUAL WATER.

Even if you feel like you're using AI for small tasks & that it's not that bad: please, reconsider.
“In order to shoot off one email per week for a year, ChatGPT would use up 27 liters of water, or about one-and-a-half jugs… that means if one in 10 U.S. residents—16 million people—asked ChatGPT to write an email a week, it’d cost more than 435 million liters of water.”
AI doesn’t just require tons of electric power. It also guzzles enormous sums of water.
It also guzzles enormous sums of water.

right now the word count for the gay ghost novel is 28,131. this only reflects the first 100 pages, and not the additional 10k or so of my out of order nonsense.
it’s chaotic, it’s making me gnaw on my arms, but I WILL finish this noodle by spring* (ง’̀-‘́)ง

*spring can mean so many things
