You passed your preseption check and intelligence check. Bad news, you take 8 points of sanity damage, causing a bout of madness, and you're now indefinitely insane. Good news, your notes are great, and future investigators that read them will gain points in thier Cthulhu mythos skill. (COC TTRPG)

The whole Dominion war in DS9 plays off the conspiracy of aliens replacing the federation's high command. They even mandate "The Thing" like blood tests and regular low-level phaser sweeps of unoccupied rooms.

I grew up in AL and love pecans. Priester's pecans are good. The best pecans come from a gas station in a zip-lock. where Grandma went out and hand-collected them for Christmas money. My alma mater had an abandoned mental hospital with a pecan orchard I would always go and collect to make pies.

Since it is Black History Month there is this great book on the first commercially successful pecan propagation in Louisiana: "Antoine of Oak Alley: The Unlikely Origin of Southern Pecans and the Enslaved Man Who Cultivated Them."

Gareth Dennis' "The Railways Will Fix The Future" is a great bit of realistic optimism, shame he was let go as a UK railway engineer for whistle blowing on the potential risk for a crush incident at a major UK Sation.

like sputnik it is an overreaction. In 1957 Russia had 3 missiles capable of being ICBMs but it could be done. Now China has okay AI but AI doesn't really do much right now. It's all more about the future effects, especially stupid with Nvidia since DeepSeek runs on their silicon.

I fixed my couche after someone sat on the arm and destroyed the Brad nails and the chip board. Replaced it with screws and new plywood and 2x6 structure.

Japanese woodblock is such a great medium. Here is a Canadian who runs a print shop in tokyo. He is even training new block carvers, paper makers, and printets. His voice is also so calming. Spend a couple hours learning about art with him. youtube.com/@seseragistu...

A quality American roof is a metal roof. You have your "Ford" exposed fastener or your "Lincoln" standing seam same thing just a little better. Its a shame that some places ban good roofs cause of aesthetics. Then you have the chaotic evil commercial low-slope membrane roof.
