The whole Dominion war in DS9 plays off the conspiracy of aliens replacing the federation's high command. They even mandate "The Thing" like blood tests and regular low-level phaser sweeps of unoccupied rooms.

Since it is Black History Month there is this great book on the first commercially successful pecan propagation in Louisiana: "Antoine of Oak Alley: The Unlikely Origin of Southern Pecans and the Enslaved Man Who Cultivated Them."

Gareth Dennis' "The Railways Will Fix The Future" is a great bit of realistic optimism, shame he was let go as a UK railway engineer for whistle blowing on the potential risk for a crush incident at a major UK Sation.

I fixed my couche after someone sat on the arm and destroyed the Brad nails and the chip board. Replaced it with screws and new plywood and 2x6 structure.

A quality American roof is a metal roof. You have your "Ford" exposed fastener or your "Lincoln" standing seam same thing just a little better. Its a shame that some places ban good roofs cause of aesthetics. Then you have the chaotic evil commercial low-slope membrane roof.

I always thought being a pigeon that lived in a dovecote would be nice, kinda like a dove apartment building. Plus they are usually nestled in a cool garden.

Just finished my first 25lb of rice through my Aroma dispenser! I got it on May 15th so 149 days. It's so convenient to just press the lever for a cup of rice. You don't have to touch all your rice or get out a container. It takes some counter space but it also be good in a pantry shelf.

My GF and I did this one together recently. We arranged them in a pot with florist foam and moss covering. This was my first lego set in some years, I was always attracted to the free build vibe vs following a set.

The Rockwell International Star-Raker paper spaceplane really, any SSTO (Single Stage To Orbit) Plane is just wacky. The Madlads of the 60-70s couldn't hack the requirements. Espicaly now woth renewed interest in H2 combustion engines for air travel. spaceflighthistory.blogspot.com/2020/09/star...

in 1958 an F4D Skyray carrier-based fighter was doing landing training by going full throttle into a cable. The pilot missed his cable and skidded through a fence and onto the tracks. A Santa Fe train rammed it at 75mph derailing 2 engines and 6 cars. 130 passengers 5 crew and 1 pilot no injeries.

It's crazy that one of the biggest corporations back in 1919 would send you everything you needed for a quadplex in a rail car for ~$111,045.65. This kind of missing middle housing for four families is basically illegal now due to the lack of parking.
