Early Gen X guy living in beautiful Port Townsend, WA.
I have two cats with three eyes and one tail between them. I’m a Drupal developer for state government. I co-authored a 1994 book about the Internet. I like music by people my age. Atheist, vegetarian, pro-UBI, anti-borders.
This is an unexpected treat. Early birthday present to myself. tickets.venuepilot.com/e/jesse-syke...

The New York Observer once commented on Thomas Jefferson: "Mr. Jefferson, it is well known, was never suspected of being very friendly to orthodox religion, but these volumes prove not only that he was a disbeliever, but a scoffer of the very lowest class."

As a scoffer, put me on that list.
The Trump administration is trying to root out what it sees as rampant left-wing domestic terrorism, raising concerns among security experts and lawmakers that broad categories of Americans’ speech could come under surveillance.

Kudos to Jefferson County PUD for getting the power back on in the wee hours last night. I really like living in a place with community-owned not-for-profit utilities. @governorferguson.bsky.social

And this is why I’ve been gradually returning to physical media. Happily found one (1) copy of the album on Amazon.

new iOS update is sleek and also defaults in Music to “you must want songs transition as they would on a dance floor.” so many people will wonder why they can’t just listen to an album. Apps > Music > Song Transitions > toggle off.

My Music Replay is heavily polluted by my sleep music playlist that runs for an hour or two every night while I fall asleep and/or am actually asleep. But this part is absolutely accurate, and I have no regrets.

This song, Timony’s guitar in particular, really hits me in the emotional bits. I don’t know much about guitar, but just based on the way she can make me feel things, she’s something special. youtu.be/edT6INzLd3U?...

I haven’t read comics in decades, but Facebook keeps showing me single-page posts. And I just learned there’s a cat with a tragic backstory and a power ring, and a monstrous supervillain who loves him and calls him “good kitty,” and I feel like maybe I’ve been missing out.

ECV-2 Cascadia.

I tried out #NoMansSky in PSVR2 this weekend. It was absolutely incredible…and yet I won’t be playing it that way. It’s just not comfortable for long sessions, it’s a nuisance trying to refer to and take notes, and the cats *really* don’t like it.

In 2016, I was still on Facebook and had connections with many people from my hometown. I kept saying that it seemed like the people who had moved away (like me) were solidly on the left, while those who hadn’t were very much on the right. Seems I wasn’t imagining that. apple.news/AJYxmVVgLQQu...

So I finally bought No Man’s Sky, looking for something less grim than Fallout 4. I love it. I’m going to be spending a lot of time in that universe. Lately I’ve been flying this interceptor, “Some Disassembly Required.”

Decided to try living with an iPad Pro as my only personal computer. Anticipated having to buy some apps to fill in gaps in functionality. So far it’s going pretty well.

The one place it falls apart so far — importing CDs into Music. I may need to keep a MacBook around just for that, which is dumb.
