Somehow I have a faintly colorful group of friends. One set's dad was pals with John Ashcroft. One invited us along to a Harold Camping seminar as a laff. It's probably for the best that I didn't help organize a Special Expedition to Freedom Fest.

I know it feels like that, but it's mostly because even most literate folks are only being trained on a handful of the highest profile, least US aligned fascisms and authoritarianisms. My impression is that this is par for the course, especially among US backed regimes.

Ive been thinking about that since i saw that video. I can kinda justify it as: license sales let us sell the hardware closer to cost while licensing profits pay us back for time investment.

and we, The New Yorker, do not expect a great work. WE expect an angry and self pitying outburst that rejects introspection and responsibility while looking to align themselves with whatever reactionary factions of culture will still take their calls.
