I guess what I'm asking is where do I direct people who want to make casual #birding pals but don't feel comfortable coming out to a queer club? I feel bad for them. It's tough out there!

Before I pitched the queer #birding club, I asked more generally if anyone in the fb group was interested in getting together and hitting a hotspot now and then... Crickets. So weird.

We generally say "sure, but keep in mind it's a queer-centred space first". But this brings up the serious question, where are the straight bird clubs?

I love my #birding pals so much and it's amazing what we're creating together. Sometimes at hotspots, our members get asked who they typically bird with, and our club comes up. "Are allies welcome?" is a common follow-up question.

I've done this but unfortunately I'm boring so it was Do Make Say Think and I had to realize it for myself, no one told me :(
