Happy Wormhole Waffles Wednesday! 🧇 Today we’re wrapping up Stargate Atlantis S3 with episodes 18-19 Submersion and Vengeance 🌊 A Wraith Queen + an underwater lab and then Michael is back! Yay? 😂 No more bugs though, please.

A Wraith Queen is strapped to a gurney style table without rails. She is looking at Teyla who has her back to the camera so that we can only see the back left of her head and her left shoulder. The queen’s outfit is very goth chic with a hint of dragon princess. Her bustier with straps is made of strips of black leather and so are her arm braces. Her flowy pants have layers to them too but we can really see them here. Her skin tone is light green with blue around her eyes. She’s killing it on looks as far as a wraith goes. This time Michael has Teyla strapped to a metal table in a very sketchy underground lab that would definitely not pass a health inspection. She’s looking to the right and generally in the direction of the camera and she’s very worried. Micheal is to her left fidgeting with something we can’t see. The background objects are very early Frankenstein and the lighting definitely gives evil lair. Michael’s outfit is brown leather with layers on the arms. He has short white hair and his skin tone is looking more human now. Arezou says he’s giving Christian Slater.

Jamus, an older slightly balding white guy, is explaining how their life-saving modules work to John, and John looks mildly confused. They’re in a 1960s style moon base, so the wall behind them is covered in various gadgets and vents; there’s a lot of blue and gray but a little gold here and there too. John is in his usual gear and Jamus’ outfit looks like a stereotypical sci-fi rando who has advanced past the medieval era into more modern clothing, also in blue and gray. Carson and Rodney are standing on a pier on the edge of Atlantis with the whole city in the background and dusk lighting. Carson appears out of phase since he has already passed and Rodney is now hallucinating one last conversation with him. As silly as the show can be sometimes, they also do poignant and emotional very well. Farewell, dear friend.

Rodney and other scientists are in an ancient lab. Rodney is standing on a platform in front of a computer console and there is a turquoise beam of light coming down from the ceiling and wrapping around his body like rope. There are two other scientists visible in the left background. The room is classic ancient design with some small windows near the ceiling. This is a classic, don’t turn it on before you know what it does problem. This is a portrait of Rodney done in a medieval style. Everything is done in warm tones with a golden background. The background also has random circle patterns and there’s a bright golden sunburst around Rodney’s head. His clothing is his standard Atlantis gear with a Canada patch but it’s almost unrecognizable in this style. Also visible is the frame on each side, but not top and bottom since this is zoomed in. This is the most heroic looking Rodney has ever been.

The Daedalus is flying towards the sun in Lantea’s solar system. The image shows the Daedalus from a back right angle in the left foreground with the sun in the right background. Captain Helia of the Lantean warship Tria has activated a pedestal in front of the Atlantis Stargate that we didn’t know existed before. She has her right hand on it while in mid-speech. She and another Lantean behind her are wearing multiple shades of beige and brown in mixed linen and leather with multiple layers. These Ancients really need to introduce color into their wardrobe. Her curly hair looks good though. John and Rodney and standing slightly behind Helia to her left, looking confused. Part of the Stargate is visible in the left background. The new pedestal matches the turquoise aesthetic of the rest of Atlantis. Rodney is sitting in the cockpit of a jumper, facing away from us and towards the back end of the jumper. He has an anti-replicator gun pointed at Niam who he just shot. Niam is mid-demolecularization so he looks out of phase with the rest of the shot. He’s glowing slightly and looks very pixelated. Kinda like if you copied an image from one of the first computers and pasted it onto a new image. Cool effect.

Jeannie on the right is looking at Hermiod in the left foreground. It’s her first time meeting an alien so she looks mildly shocked and nervous. At least she has the tact to not ask why he’s naked! We only see Hermiod’s right profile as he looks at Rodney off camera. Jeannie is wearing a blue tank top and holding something unidentifiable from this crop. There are some electronics visible on the wall in the background. I’ll take more of Kate Hewlett any day. John is in a desert setting to mimic Afghanistan. There’s a crashed US helicopter in the left background, which is in a flatter area surrounded by a low ridge. John has crawled up one ridge and is looking beyond to the right of the image while holding a gun and getting something out of his vest. Both the helicopter and John are in desert camo. Elizabeth just woke up in a mental health hospital not knowing how she got there. She’s wearing white scrubs and standing at a window with partially open blinds, looking at her identification bracelet on her left wrist. Outside the window we can vaguely see some greenery and a brick building maybe 30ish feet away. Don’t let those pesky replicators fool you, girl! It’s Todd the Wraith!!! In our introduction to Todd, we see him now in a jail cell standing close to the bars looking out. There’s some patterned yellow lighting in the background- not sure if the light is being cast strangely or if the surface it’s lighting up isn’t smooth. It’s hard to tell with so little context. Todd has a green complexion with dark green facial markings- which are actually inspired by Kiss. He has a roughly star shaped marking around his left eye. His white hair is very scraggly since he probly hasn’t washed it in many years, poor baby. He also has a goatee about three inches long. He’s looking with interest outside his cell. You’ll be free soon, babe!

Ultra close-up of Ronon who looks pissed. We can just see his face and dreads. I just noticed his has a ring on one dread! It would be funny if he slowly collected more trinkets like Jack Sparrow. Niam the replicator goes flying out into space when AR1 releases the rear hatch of the jumper. It’s a blurry photo but worth it cuz it’s so funny. The back end of the jumper is visible around the edges and then Niam is in the center. His arms are spread wide and his legs are spread eagle with his right leg bent. He has a shocked expression on his face, which is to be expected lol. I can’t believe it took this long to comically yeet someone into space like this. They did technically yeet that iratus bug in the same way but it wasn’t as funny.

Eight newly humanized Wraith are sitting in a semi circle in a makeshift army camp tent. They’re all sitting at the ends of their cots and all wearing white jumpsuits. Some are bald or have shaved heads while the rest have terrible white wigs. Only Lathan has a good wig since he has multiple speaking lines. They all look annoyed. There is also a boot sticking out the end of a cot which belongs to Michael but that’s the only part of him that’s visible. This whole plot is truly an ethical clusterfuck. They really let this retrovirus thing go too far. Don’t subject us to these party city wigs like this for no good reason. Lucius, pictured left, is very creepily looking at Teyla on the right, who is looking away in frustration. Lucius is wearing non-time period specific clothing from the historical bin. It’s giving lazy late 18th century, though the women’s clothing would suggest a more modern period. There’s a woman’s head barely visible in the far background. Poor thing is probly under Lucius’ love spell; she deserves better, as does Teyla.

The other queens we’ve met have been pretty creepy and I feel like this one has made the most effort to appear human, which is interesting. Her skin color is barely different from ours at all, just a bit more pale on her face and then just a few strands of gray hair. So it makes wonder if she was intentionally trying to appear less scary or if the makeup department was tired of all the green. This is a mid-space battle image. In the right foreground is the Orion which has just fired drones on the hive ship in the left background. The drones are arcing around the hive ship and causing many explosions- very nice visual effects. There’s a third ship in the right background and it’s honestly hard to tell if it’s the Daedalus or another hive. There were two hives in this battle but I think it’s the Daedalus because it looks like a cruiser is headed for it which lines up with the plot. So the other hive must be just off screen. I love a good space battle!

This is a dope looking skull made of fire surrounded by differently textured fire. The skull part looks more like normal flames and the surrounding area almost looks like stones. I guess that would probably be the hotter part of the fire at the base if this was a normal fire in any way. I’m now realizing that I don’t know how to describe fire very well. Anyway this was something that Vala saw in a dream about the Ori. Dun dun dun. This is a promo shot for the season 9 cast and they’re all wearing civilian clothes. I assume they’re actually in front of a green screen but what we can see looks like a prop warehouse with a Stargate on the left and shelves and ladders and big lights in the back. Cam and Sam are wearing their bounty hunter cosplay outfits while tied up and sitting on a long bench. Part of Daniel’s body is visible on the left side as well as the edge of a gun in the foreground which is blocking Daniel’s head from view. The background is a sandstone wall. I really want to know who at the SGC is making these outfits. The Lucian Alliance seems to really like leather, buckles, metal embellishments, and bits of fur. These outfits just look hot as in I would be sweating so much. It’s not really even sexy leather, it’s more grungey. They don’t look bad necessarily, just a little goofy. 22 of the alien bug R-75 are visible inside a hazmat viewing chamber with a scientist’s hand tapping the glass with a pen. The bugs kinda look like giant black beetles. They’re about one inch wide and two inches long with hard shells and two little horn things on their head. I could really do without a flesh-eating bug episode but maybe it’s required in sci-fi. Don’t eat while watching this episode!

Ba’al has captured Teal’c and strapped him down in a standing position to attempt to brainwash him. On the left side of the image, we see Teal’c’s right profile; he looks determined and he’s wearing his armor undershirt and has a memory device on his temple. Ba’al is standing to his left on the right side of the image, wearing a snazzy suit and leaning his right elbow against Teal’c’s platform thing that he’s on. There’s a fire burning in the right side background. Ba’al’s suit layers include a beige turtleneck, an army green vest, and an orange-gold-green suit jacket with a pattern vaguely similar to paisley on the lapels. I’m not sure if Ba’al serves quite as much as Apophis but it’s close. Ba’al could never pull off the midriff bearing outfits Apophis had though. And Apophis knew how to accentuate his legs too! I miss him and his cute little outfits. Colonel Pendergast and Mitchell are on the bridge of the Prometheus. Pendergast is sitting in the captain chair and mid speech while Mitchell stands slightly behind him and to Pendergast’s left/our right. There’s a blond woman’s head visible between them in the background. Mitchell is wearing green and has his arms crossed in frustration and Pendergast is wearing blue. It made me tear up when Pendergast went down with his ship! And his name is oddly satisfying to say. RIP

Luckily they didn’t do the typical prior white cast makeup since he’s Black and that would be super weird. Instead he just has some gold swirly embellishments on his cheeks and chin, kinda like 3D tattoos, as well as the typical prior white contacts to make his eyes look creepy. I actually only just now noticed that he no longer has his Jaffa mark on his forehead! Very clever change and I guess that could be really appreciated by Gerak to no longer have a Goa’uld symbol on his face. The background of the photo is just some Vancouver trees.

Khalek is presumably asleep while sitting propped up in a special chair to restrain him. He has a tube with a dopamine inhibitor going straight into the back of his head, cords going to a heart monitor under his clothes, and four green lasers pointed at the back of his head that are monitoring his brain activity. He’s wearing a gray jumpsuit. Arezou likes this actor’s ability to fake sleep convincingly. Close-up shot of energy waves being generated with an open wormhole. It’s showing a spike with an arrow labeling it as an abnormal signature. But when looking at this image up close, you can find some errors! At the top is the phrase “Restart if set to to main drive to access” and the level of magnitude labeled along the bottom makes no sense as it goes from 2.4 to 2.1 to 2.0 back to 2.1. The graphic designers didn’t anticipate people getting a screenshot of this and over analyzing it.

Ba’al is sitting on a gray patterned couch in an office building and he’s wearing a black pinstripe suit with a gold patterned tie and handkerchief. There’s a window behind the couch looking out onto the hallway, with blinds and a seemingly decorative orange plank of wood going across. His arms are out wide across the back and side arm of the couch and he has a very pleased expression on his face. A bit like a cat who just caught a bird. Look at me, Ma, I’m hiding from the SGC right under their noses! Mitchell is talking to Jolan out in some Vancouver woods. They’re both wearing casual brown linen belted tunics and pants and Mitchell looks a little dirty. There’s a beam holding sand bags used as timers in the background and Jolan is pointing to his left, wordlessly telling Mitchell to get going on his next obstacle course. Talk about boot camp! Daniel has a very strange look on his face. It’s like a combo of amused and annoyed and bored. It kinda reminds me of Wormtongue whispering to Theoden in Rohan. The background is just a little bit of the large stone throne Vala is sitting on. We are seeing Sam from behind while she’s sitting at one of the command stations on the Prometheus, adjusting some knob. Through the windshield in the background we can see a planet with a large shield bubble on the surface. It reminds me of a blister.
