The acapella used in the UK remix of Mr Fingers' epoch-defining "Can You Feel It" came from a very obscure record by Rhythm Controll featuring Chuck Roberts (R.I.P.) "My House" and Om Unit stuck a snippet of it in this remake.

It did not appear in the song's original version.

Here are some of the rules originally created by Sister Korita Kent and adopted by John Cage, laid out for the students as well as teachers at the Merce Cunnigham Studio.

Well worth considering and meditating on.

It takes a producer or a real musician to be aware of the specific powers of each instrument.

Who knew that acoustic bass could be useful for uncooperative subjects during an interrogation?

🪩 Mirror balls are nowadays often overlooked by many club lighting designers, as they push for fancy robotic lighting instead.

Yet they remain an unequaled way to set a vibe on the dance floor. They can be found in many clubs all over, and never cease to dazzle us.

A bit more context: Harry 'The Bastard' Russell was the main buyer at Watts Music, one of the major distributors of Techno, House and anything on vinyl.

His good taste, instinct and picks were legendary, which is what arguably helped turn many obscure records on small indie labels into major hits.

For those into 90s house, there were these incredible compilations put out by Watts Music's "Harry The Bastard".

A WoE member recently asked what was up with him, and sure enough Harry himself replies and gives our astonished readers an update on his whereabouts (New Zealand)!

Gotta love it!

Who can name the different #disco DJs in this vintage photo used for a recent ad for Bozak rotary mixers?

Bonus points: where did the photo originate from?

Famed #disco DJ Jim Burgess retired from DJing in 1981 to focus on what he loved most: being an opera singer.

Saint lightman Richard Tucker reminisces about Burgess' singular career and how large his influence loomed.
