A truly fantastic song every way you cut it.
[Daily Dose of Disco #98]

Skipworth & Turner "Thinking About Your Love" (1985)

The fact that this contains such a brilliant vocal performance shouldn't overshadow the splendid Patrick Adams production with its delicate arrangement touches. A timeless #disco gem in many ways.

Billy Nichols "Give Your Body Up (To The Music)" (1979)

Big Larry Levan remix and a Garage anthem, he would always start the record from the middle (video is cued up to that exact spot) to get the energy rush from that mad percussion. Essential!

Melba Moore "You Stepped Into My Life" (1978)

This has been a #lifejam for so many! Written by the Gibb brothers, great production by McFadden & Whitehead, with a brilliant John Luongo remix. No wonder it immediately became such an enduring anthem! 🎶

Time to pay our respects to one of our most beloved musical heroes.
R.I.P. Roberta Flack, legendary songwriter, singer, artist and producer who gave us so many life-changing musical memories. Including this with Donny Hathaway that I just can't ever seem to get too far from.

She managed to capture the soul of America in a way few others could.🎹

This should be a fun listen for those who may have missed this past Sunday's stream to Mixcloud.
🎶 Very pleased to announce that I've shared my latest 'Deep Space' stream to YouTube.

Lots of fresh new material in there, it goes on for over three hours and as always some real surprises which I assume you'll dig. Enjoy!

For those who love their Basic Channel (since that duo's self-imposed exile from making any more records), this should hold you over for a good bit.

An ace tip of the hat to the original by Mr Fingers, down to including a snippet of the Chuck Roberts acapella.

Very deserving of being listened to... it's got all of the good stuff. Dark and moody atmospheres, deep grime, swinging beats. Murdah stylee....

Interesting topic to discuss, how many 'Live' albums were in fact studio recordings that had audience dubbed in later for added effect?

Borderline entries include the much-beloved "Fela & Ginger Baker Live", and "Voodoo Child" from Electric Ladyland where a small studio audience was in fact present
[Daily Dose of Disco #75]

Marvin Gaye "Got To Give It Up" (1977)

One thing that James Brown and Gaye share is that both of their arguably biggest dance floor hits were in fact studio recordings masquerading as being part of a live album.

For those who don't mind being digital crate-diggers, here is a wonderful feature about Library Music at Bandcamp.

It's a whole separate world (income was mainly derived from TV and movie licensing) but there are many incredible composers who deserve being heard.

Wonderful article entitled 'Vinylogue' from Discogs going into details about Brazilian sensation DJ Marky's passion for music and collecting vinyl.

It also offers some thoughts on his trailblazing career behind the decks as a leading exponent of Drum&Bass.

It takes a producer or a real musician to be aware of the specific powers of each instrument.

Who knew that acoustic bass could be useful for uncooperative subjects during an interrogation?

🪩 Mirror balls are nowadays often overlooked by many club lighting designers, as they push for fancy robotic lighting instead.

Yet they remain an unequaled way to set a vibe on the dance floor. They can be found in many clubs all over, and never cease to dazzle us.
