This is a strange hill to die on. But at least you’re dead.

Now that’s the real echo chamber.

Ah, I loved visiting SF when I worked at Sun.

The only silver lining, and it’s not much, is that there are a lot of right wingers in aviation, and they’re about to have an existential crisis.

I got it 7 years ago when I was dealing with upgrades for the 2020 ADS-B Out mandate. Of the things I had installed, the EI CGR and Airtex ELT were the least problematic. The worst by far was the G5. Took a ton of labor to site the flux gate properly.

I have friends with JPI. They’re happy with their systems, too. I wouldn’t discount them but when I bought mine, I don’t think they could replace existing instrumentation.

Some downsides: the temp probes themselves seem to be fragile. They’re thermocouples with spot welded leads. Not much if any strain relief. I think someone could make better ones. The OAT sensor is similarly not too sturdy. Fortunately not too important.

I have a CGR-30P in my Hawk XP II. It’s a decent system. The probes use differential pairs, unlike JPI, so the common mode noise factor is low. They terminate on a box on the other side of the firewall and just a digital signal is sent back.

I learned on a stick and I’ve owned and driven both kinds over many years. I’d say just “no.” A lot depends on tire tread and condition. More on the car’s handling and the driver’s skill and maturity. Plus, nobody posts a video of someone successfully negotiating a tough situation. It’s dull.

Jon Favreau (no, not that Jon Favreau, a different one) and Jon Lovett.

These are great. And the seasoning has “organic corn powder” in it, so it’s a corn-on-corn delight.
