Words That Annoy Me

Venting about words I find annoying. Not the meaning (though sometimes the context), or the person/business using the word. I will occasionally share special words I enjoy. However, unlike a lot of folks, I don't have strong feelings about "moist."
Since it's Christmas, I'm going to share another word I enjoy, then tomorrow it will be back to words I despise. I love the word "Bippy." It's fun to say, and I appreciate the 1960s counterculture orgins (the sketch comedy show, Laugh-In). "You bet your sweet bippy!" #words #1960s

I just shared a word I enjoy: Snood. Here's an extremely cute dog wearing one. #snood
It's don't take your snood off in the car degrees today in Chicago 🥶 #whippet #snood #notenoughdegrees

Since it's Christmas Eve, I'm feeling especially generous and will share a word I actually enjoy: Snood. Human and dog. It's just fun to say. Probably even more fun to wear. Go ahead, say it. See? #snood #words

I hate the word "Elevate" in this context. In the last couple of days, it's been all over my inbox and social media. Please find another way to convey that something is tasteful, stylish or sophisticated. #words

I've always hated the word "panties," especially in the context of #truecrime. It seemed like the victim was being sexualized and blamed. It's from the "what was she wearing" era. Now I have another reason to be annoyed by this word, in my Most Hated Words Hall of Fame.

Gastropub. I always think of the Australian lady on our cruise saying that several people in her party had come down with "Gastro." Do you want to "dine" (spoiler alert: "dine" is on the list) at a place that literally has norovirus IN THE NAME? #words #dining #GIissues

The word "Motorist" has always annoyed me.

This is one of the words I hate the most and the driving force behind this account: EATERY. I despise this word. Nothing against the restaurant itself, which is lovely.
