When I started working there, there was not a lot of love for Sierra's old catalog at Coktel, some older employees still resenting the recent merger. I soon became known as the "archivist", the person to go to when there was a question about legacy Sierra titles.

With the switch to drab DVD boxes, I lost a bit of interest in collecting boxed games, and some of the adventure games released in the 00s felt a big... generic (or maybe they just lacked a decent budget). But point & clicks were not dead yet!

To those who fell along the way... E. Gore was a comedy-horror p&c pitched at Sierra in 95. The pitch document shows the Sierra/LucasArts rivalry was very real. The Devil's Men by Kevin Mentz was cancelled by Daedalic in 2018. All that's left of it is this superb artbook.

I sadly never had the chance to meet Jane Jensen, but I hold on to a few rare keepsakes, including GK mouse pads, a GK3 design bible, some concept drawings and official Sierra magazines (who remembers Interaction and its French equivalent Multimedia News?).

Early 1996, I was sent to Sierra's historic HQ to do some LQA. Most of the designers and artists had moved to Seatle, and only a few teams where still working in the Oakhurst office (Lighthouse, the cancelled Babylon 5 game). So many legendary games were created there...

While Sierra games make up a large part of my collection, I got a bit obsessed with all types of adventure games in the 90s, from classic to obscure, from Myst-likes to FMV. Some were better than others, but all had their own charm and quirks. Here are a few examples.

From their very first game published in France to (most likely) their very last, we localized all Pendulo Studios games into French, and took care of casting and recording French voice-overs. I couldn't be more proud to have work with these guys. What a ride it's been!

There were many great designers at Sierra, but my favorite is Jane Jensen. I was involved indirectly with GK2 and GK3 while working at Sierra, but localizing Gray Matter is one of the highlights of my carreer. I still have that card game decorating my desk to this day.

On the first day of my first job ever: I was sat in front of a computer at Coktel-Sierra's office with a game on which I had to do some QA. That game was the French version of Space Quest VI. Not a bad start... I still have some nice goodies.

If anybody wants to hear me ramble about my fairly extensive adventure games collection, my days working at Sierra or how fun it is to translate adventure games, do not hesitate to get in touch! #AdvX25
