i really want to fix this up and get it working in diddy kong racing finally, my attempt at recreating the proto central area layout based on the remnants in game and the proto vhs footage, but the current tooling feels so so clunky. like getting a former dev to leak a proto would take less work lol

thankfully there was a 12 lines of asm padding space nearby in code so the hijack was simple enough. the result is it works and is boring, but that is better than if it didn't work and sounded terrible during loading. the results song stopping abruptly on the screen fade is what we wanted...

rrgh ok i lied. i did the thing and also it worked first try yay. here's some dev notes and ghidra implementation, and the raw patch file changes.
ghidra patch work on the left side showing an implementation of a patch for a patch, in dreamcast assembly language. on the right are my notes where i went through my debugging and thinking to make writing the patch in assembly easier. the notes visible are pasted here: "if restored it will end music properly without stutter loop but breaks the whole point of the mod. ADXT is destroyed between stage changes and is the issue here, for ADX still playing when ADXT is destroyed. custom logic needed somewhere.. to do what though. send mute ADX ID 000000FF by checking if last song was Round Clear (4b) before ADXT_Destroy called? this works in theory from debugger tests. hijacking in 8c107a60 (ADXChangeRelated) 8c107a70 jsr ADXT_Destroy (branch to code cave time) what registers are unsafe? r4 r14 maybe r0 is fine for work, r1 will hold the pointer for ADXT_Destroy, r2 will be replaced when returning from finally calling ADXT_Destroy hijack: move #4b to r0 get pointer for last requested ADX to r2 get @r2 to r2 compare if r2 is 4b branch false skip to jsr ADXT_Destroy if 4b; move 000000ff to r0 move pointer for ADX to request to r2 move r0 @r2 jsr ADXT_Destroy nop bsr return from hijack nop" a view of the patch itself as commented hexadecimal in a text file. the headings are: "Hijack ADX Change Related (Round Clear Skip Fix)", "Mute If Round Clear Skipped", and "ADX Mute ID"

look at this foolish doll
it's a square shape cropped photo of my right eye. you can see my brown eye, and the dark markings from tear duct down that curve and look as if i put some makeup on. the bag under this eye causes nice shadows, and there's shadows or markings coming away from the end of my eye as if i did an eyeliner flick. my eyebrow shape ends with a triangle point.
