It's Substack Sunday! This week's stack follows our founder as he tries to get his book reviewed. A review of the review process, one might say.

We love these Lord of the Ring book covers featured in an article by Giovanni Blandino. Each one represents each artist’s unique vision whilst also refelcting the socio-political circumstances of the time.

Technology is a wonderful thing. However, WoodPig Press does not support the use of generative AI for creative purposes. Here are some reasons why. For a full explanation of our stance on AI, why not read our Substack? open.substack.com/pub/woodpigp...

In non-fiction, "speculative" can apply to anything deemed philosophical that questions our belief of what’s real, who we are, where we come from and where we’re headed. What's your favourite piece of speculative non-fiction? #writer #illustrator #publishing

Yes, it would be interesting to see Jane Austen's take on Clueless - one of my favourite films because I studied Emma at school and still love it. But I think I'd like to see Philip K. Dick's reaction to Blade Runner. He saw some samples and read the script, but died before it was released.

"Speculative" is a broad term that can refer to any piece of writing that explores “....What if?” It can apply to the past, present or future. This includes (but is not limited to): sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and the dystopian. What's your favourite piece of speculative fiction? #writingcommunity

In this Guardian article, which does the "on the one hand..." thing they're doing more of these days with AI, there was this phrase: "the market needs more content". That's how tech bros think of art. Meat for the sausage machine.

AI and copyright: The rulings differ, here, but the most interesting thing is perhaps the bit about the threat of "market dilution":
