Monasterevin, Co. Kildare, is a coming together of the five ages of transport in Ireland: rivers, canals, railways, trunk roads and motorways.

There’s even an aqueduct there, where the Grand Canal crosses the River Barrow.

Has anyone else come across the “Dust” sci-fi short stories on YouTube? Some interesting tales there.

Just a heads up with all the Christmas markets and fairs on at the moment - if you see art or art-based pieces for sale, ask who the artist is, because the amount of people deceptively slapping "made locally" on pieces locally farted out by their computer and a genAI prompt is getting depressing

Every time I hear positive news reports about the way the USA is going, my immediate reaction is to believe it when I see it.

Northern Ireland has been at peace nearly as long as the duration of the Troubles itself.

I saw a comment a few days ago that said that leadership is 70% showmanship, and I can’t get it out of my head.

My word to describe someone who is consistently terrible, no matter which way or which direction you look at them: “panangular”.

(Insert person of choice) is panangularly bad.

“The Famine is a punishment from God for an idle, ungrateful, and rebellious country; an indolent and un-self-reliant people. The Irish are suffering from an affliction of God’s providence”

These are truly crazy times.

The fact that they are this crazy, gives me hope, because craziness does not last forever and there will be a reckoning.

Thing is, we’re not that far removed from what happened in Nazi Germany between 1933 and 1945.

Yes it’s 80 to 90 years ago, and that would have been sufficient for forgetfulness in past periods maybe.

But this is the age of social media. The full horror of what they did is just a click away.

A #painting from Ireland's south coast. "Ardmore" is an exalted place for me, not because of the Round Tower, but because when I was small I stayed in a caravan and every day you'd jump over the dunes to the beach after first eating a bowl of Puffa Puffa Rice. #ArtYear #SpeirGhorm #TidesOutTuesday
