This is the largest monstrance in the world (slight controversy depending on how you count, but you know). It’s in Chicago. I’ve seen it.

Our Lady of the Sign Ark of Mercy monstrance at St Stanislaus Kostka in Chicago. A large gilded replica of the Ark of the Covenant. The Virgin Mary is atop the Mercy Seat. She is depicted using the tradition image of Our Lady of the Sign (an image that stylistically represents her pregnant with the Christ Child, who is typically shown in a a circle mean to the represent being carried inside her body. In the monstrance, instead of the image of the Child, an actual (very large) Host is held in the circle. I know this symbolism is hella weird and wrong from a Jewish perspective, but within Catholicism it makes sense and holds a lot of meaning.

That’s the super big one at that parish. It’s semi-famous, partly because it’s huge. This priest would likely carry one that looks more like the one the Pope has here. This is typical. The center holds the Eucharistic Host (consecrated communion wafer), which is the holiest thing in Catholicism.
