Answering machines? Where you would leave a message and anyone in the house would just hear it???? I’m thankful to live in 2023 for many reasons, but no answering machines is near the top of the list.

I totally get why Rory was too humiliated to tell Lorelai about getting a D on her paper. In third grade, I missed my first spelling test word— happen. I erased my answer to fix it and still felt the need to hide it under my mattress. THE SHAME.

Are there popular (read: cheerleader) girls at Chilton? Do they have sports teams? I’m realizing how little I know about the students there outside of the 4 students already introduced.

Over and over, Lorelai struggles as she realizes that Rory enjoyed her day at the club with Richard. Lorelai feels betrayed because for years, Rory has by default been on her team, and that is a huge shift for Lorelei to deal with for the first time.

Richard and Rory have so much in common, and I’m glad they get this golf outing to start figuring that out. I think Richard is pretty reluctant to want to be in relationship with Rory after things fell apart with Lorelai, but we get to see that pretty much totally melt away.

After Sookie’s peach rolling last episode, Jackson is totally right for not wanting to bring substandard strawberries! More credit to Jackson for being great!

It is absurd that Richard wouldn’t take Rory to a driving range for a few practice swings. As someone who with personal experience being terrible at golf, going straight to the course would be the worst way to experience golf for the first time.

Ah, there it is. “This is the first time we’ve gotten to show our granddaughter off at the club.” Emily’s motives certainly aren’t selfless, but they’re not truly malicious either.

This isn’t a super religious show, but we do have a Martin Luther and Mary Magdalene reference this episode. I spent far too long trying to remember what episode Rory gets a question wrong about Martin Luther, but alas, it was actually Aex Dunphy from Modern Family (S4E8).

Drella the harp player being kind of rough and abrasive is an amazing contrast to the inherent fanciness of the harp. I’ve read that the actress, Alex Borstein, was originally cast to be Sookie, which would’ve been very different than the Melissa McCarthy version.
