One could speculate that one thing driving the global shift to the Right, is business leaders recognizing that any rational, democratic government is going to respond to climate in a way that significantly curtails their privileges.

One of the key chants on the recent far-right protests is "kier starmer's a wanker", and there were people calling for his assassination on Saturday. @kierstarmerpm.bsky.social your worst sin is that you have destroyed and betrayed yourself for nothing. You schmuck. Fuck you.

For almost nothing, for some marginal and fleeting electoral gain, because their wellbeing is worth nothing to these politicians, because they are not "citizens". And it doesn't even work! Right wing voters think the centre are pedophiles doing white replacement shit!

People who simply want to go about their ordinary lives are prevented from doing so, are put at risk, are made ever-less-equal than the peers with whom they share a street - and for what?

What a load of shit. Trans people are primarily working class; breaking solidarity with them is scabbing, a betrayal in the class war. Those who seek to abandon trans people are dividing the left. Any new party needs to take an intransigent line on all forms of oppression to shift the conversation.

I don't think it can be taken for granted that a strong stance on trans rights will be supported at a conference. Actual transphobia is a minority position on the left, but there is a much larger section which is happy to be soft on transphobia for the votes. The argument needs to be made.

Everyone -- such as the author of this piece -- who spread lies around supposed antisemitism in corbyn's labour party, who said "israel has a right to defend itself", and now pretends that there is any justification for the palestine action ban, bears partial responsibility for the gaza genocide.

He's happy to listen to Farage and the semi-fascist gutter press, who are setting policy from the back seat.
