A balanced argument doesn’t weigh two sides equally. It weighs the strongest evidence more heavily.

Critical thinking isn't about representing every view. It's about recognizing your biases, and giving serious consideration to facts that contradict your hopes and beliefs.

Very happy with how the first print edition turned out. Free edition is still free as well - textbook equity matters. #AcademicSky #Equity

Previously, I scoffed at the idea of combining a croissant with a cookie. After my daughter brought us some from Pitchoun Bakery in LA, I want to go an record and say that I was completely mistaken. I am 100% pro-cookie+croissant.

Wild to see SL still hanging around. We had some great learning adventures in that world in 2007. I wonder if folks have figured out how to use it in more powerful ways yet, or if folks are still doing “Avatar Lectures”…

I have been an enthusiastic supporter of adjunct faculty for a long time. They are essential to the existence of higher education. They keep us grounded and connected to the "real" world, and allow us to offer far more sectios than could be budgeted using only FT fac. They need better support.

I agree on the importance of this article. Wow.
Finally got around to reading this important @dkthomp.bsky.social piece on American isolation, a topic I've been warning about for years.

I'm convinced our nation's salvation depends on reversing our growing collective social isolation. It's made us unhappy, anxious and pugilistic.
Chosen solitude may be the most significant social fact of our age, @dkthomp.bsky.social writes. The emergence of the anti-social century is changing childhood social development, our physical infrastructure, and even our relationship to reality.
