As a left-hander who suffered with right-handed teachers and "erasable" pens in the 70s, I've always firmly believed that cursive is the mind-killer!

Such a fowl expression on your face!

I missed that particular episode.

But I did see the SQL.

It’s easy to confuse. The weather services across the world convert local air pressures (station pressure) to sea level pressure (SLP) so they all can be compared against a common baseline. But the further you go up in altitude the thinner the air and lower the air pressure gets.

Given she lives at 6000 ft, the local air pressure is likely close to 800 millibars on a daily basis. You are correct that only severe hurricanes go sub-900, but remember that’s sea level pressure.

Yes, Wilma got down to 882 millibars, just a bit over 20 years ago. While it is possible that Melissa may dip below 900 millibars before reaching Jamaica, Wilma's Atlantic record seems safe from Melissa threatening it.

I wrote up a TOON one shot for my D&D group back in the 80s. Full of sight gags and bad puns. The plot started with them meeting up at the team base to receive their mission.

Four hours and many inter-team battles later, they still hadn't left the base.

Hilarious, but so many puns were wasted! :-)

You know that person is a _true_ Doppler aficionado if their go to radar app isn’t a mosaic of all the radars but _single site_ Doppler

He's also looking for who ate the rest of the strawberries.

In other words, he's gone Wouk.

The inevitable appeals will take a long time to sort out.

So the case has a fart way to go before it is resolved. But I’m sure it will sort itself out in the end.

Be _very_ careful never to be caught in the dark with a grue jay. _Especially_ in a maze of twisty passages, all alike.

You are very likely to be eaten.

Last year I spent quite a while listening to Mike Duncan’s excellent History of Rome podcast, which he recorded from 2007 to 2012. There were so many observations he made on how the Republic collapsed that felt _way_ too spot on to our current situation for my comfort level.

And the same song provides a timely warning about democracy:

Don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you've got till it's gone?
