Still consider myself a New Yorker after bouncing around for years before finally settling down in Charleston.

Also, my puppy Sophie grew into her nose.
For those keeping track, Trump just threatened to expand his trade war to the UK and EU right after threatening a real war with Panama. He’s busy this Sunday evening.

Trump goes on about how wonderful things were in the McKinley Admin. In 1901, the year he was assassinated, my 13 year old grandma was finishing the 8th grade and starting her career at the Eagle Pencil Factory on the lower east side.

As a private citizen, I want to help defend our country but am at a loss about how to do that. We need to quickly organize.
To help people understand how much of a threat is taking place:

The United States Justice Department leadership appears to be outright breaking the law to fire career civil servants for Trump.

One person - acting FBI Director Brian Driscoll - is heroically staying true to the law.

Some CNN talking heads believe that Biden’s use of the pardon power to protect his family from a vindictive Trump is just as bad as Trump’s blanket pardon of 1500 people CONVICTED of trying to overthrow the US government.

Over the last 24 hours, the world, or at least that portion who are on Bluesky and whose algorithm works like mine, has witnessed the stupid sense of superiority and privilege that comes with being a Yankees fan.

Paul Krugman has announced he’s retiring from The NY Times and I need to find someone as knowledgeable and erudite to explain to me what’s really happening in the economy.

Is it safe over here to say that you don’t like insurance companies but also think that the cold blooded murder of a man in the street is terribly wrong?

I’m getting blasted on Threads by people who think this man’s killing is somehow justifiable.

Not since the Gaetz selection has an organization been so dishonored simply by the insulting nomination of such an unfit and unqualified individual.

I’m no fan of her but I think the fact that George and Kellyanne seem to have agreed to maintain civility and place the focus on their kids to be admirable. Kellyanne especially has shown respect and restraint.

Sister Esther’s 2nd Grade Geography lesson was interrupted by the loudspeaker. Some cried. A few maybe laughed nervously. We listened to the radio until he died. Then we went home. It was a horrible weekend.

My sister and I were with my Dad watching TV that Sunday and watched the killer get killed.

The Republican Party itself, not just Trump, protects and empowers those it knows to be venal and dangerous.
Breaking News: The House Ethics Committee deadlocked on Wednesday on whether to release a report about sexual misconduct and illicit drug use allegations against former Representative Matt Gaetz, who is President-elect Trump’s choice for attorney general.

I don’t remember hearing about “overreach” when the government gave airlines $25 billion in rescue aid. 😏

I majored in Government at Georgetown in the 70s concentrating on American political systems. Just about everything we learned above the level of county government has been upended. I might as well have studied Ancient American History.

Have times changed?

In 1993, Zoe Baird was forced to withdraw from her nomination for AG after it was revealed that she hired undocumented workers to serve as chauffeur and nanny and neglected to pay social security taxes for them.

Oh, those innocent days of yore!
