When only 40% of frontline healthcare workers in the NHS accept the (free) vaccine we surely have to look at the messaging and figure out what’s going wrong. For HCWs it’s not an availability , cost or convenience issue. They should also be the most likely to recognise the need for it.

Does that graph show the average death age for each year, or the average life expectancy of someone born in that year? Sorry if that’s a daft question, but it’s not clear (to me at least). Thank you 😊

Clearly there will need to be retraining and job opportunities for the people affected, and support available as they transition.

So it’s not that there are fewer crabs, it’s that the boats can no longer go into the waters where they live to catch and kill them? I actually see this as a good news story.

I’m still in, but the radio will be playing at work tomorrow, so I think my end is near…

Hopefully one day we’ll see them here too. 🤞

To which policy do you refer?
December 7, 2025 at 11:07 PM
One of my pet hates is people posting on BlueSky with screenshots of posts on X (don’t suppose they are called tweets anymore?). I left Twitter/X ages ago and I have never missed it. Not once.

I can’t tell what’s real anymore. 😩🤷‍♀️

I feel really sorry for all delivery people. It should be a great job. But… They are all treated badly, have ridiculous targets and get nothing but grief from recipients. I remember people complaining that I was delivering early!! I bit my tongue and didn’t offer to take it away again.

I find Evri the worst. Took a picture of packet on my doorstep as PoD, then lobbed it over a 6ft gate. How could I then prove it was them who broke it? More recently they delivered to wrong address, gave me no card or photo, and insisted I had received it. It was left in a porch of a house nearby. 🙄
December 7, 2025 at 6:31 PM
It’s up to the sender to designate a safe space when sending. That then appears on the PDA when the packet is scanned, allowing the postie to leave the packet unattended. We were always told not to leave packets if we saw random notes in windows etc, as any loss would be on us, not the recipient.

DPD are consistently good. The problem RM posties have is the size of their rounds have been increased so much that it’s physically impossible to get round before the end of their shift. I would not want to do that job now - impossible targets. Must be so demoralising.

And still there don’t seem to be enough vacancies for newly qualified healthcare professionals. Everything about this seems unsustainable. 😩
December 7, 2025 at 6:18 PM
Designated safe spaces effectively pass the responsibility for stolen packages to the recipient rather than the deliverer. I assume that’s what the article says (paywall so can’t read it).
December 7, 2025 at 6:15 PM
I worked for Royal Mail for a few months a few years ago. Used to get people complaining that I *didn’t* leave packages in porches etc. We could only leave them if a safe space had been designated for the delivery - and only then if it was under cover and out of sight of passers-by.

Two things can be true at the same time.

“Tensions”. Is that what we’re calling it now? 🤷‍♀️
December 5, 2025 at 10:54 AM
I’ve had to block posts that include the word that is the name of their president. It was just too overwhelming. I still see loads of posts where his name is in a picture, or where his name is not mentioned specifically. This means I can still see what’s going on, but it’s a bit more manageable.

As a species we act like the world is ours alone and everything else that lives here doesn’t matter. We desperately need to find harmony with all the other species. We share this planet - it’s not just ours.

Hopefully that means he will be boycotting Question Time 😀🤞

Great that so many people want to be teachers. I hope as much effort is going in to retaining teachers by ensuring a reasonable work life balance.
December 4, 2025 at 1:31 PM
Is that a punt?

Who was chancellor when you were in government with the Tories? The 2010 spending review that kick started the years and years of austerity?

I quite fancy the one with the pool. 😀
