Incidentally, local friends: if you haven't seen the Science Center's exhibit on Pompeii, definitely go. It's extremely well done, and (despite the levity in the photo of my daughter) very moving.

Today I'm putting together a list of stuff we need for my youngest as we prepare for him to leave for college. I have lots of feelings, of course, but I ran across this picture of his second grade science notebook. We are sending him into the world equipped with the important stuff, at least.

I've spent the past three months trying to pull together data for PS's 2005-2015 sessions so we can finally calculate accurate stats. I just clicked 'import'.... OMG the stress.

We got home from Botany2025 in time to see Dear Evan Hansen on the Muny stage during one of the most beautiful nights of this St. Louis summer! That's a win!

Another great moment for us at #Botany2025! When we learned our plenary speaker would be unable to speak as planned, Dr. Catrina Adams stepped up and gave the plenary in her place. She did an AMAZING job of highlighting PlantingScience's 20 years of supporting plant education!

Listening to the Ed/Outreach talks at #Botany2025 makes me wish we had more HS/MS teachers here. So much great information here! 🌾🌱🌳

This was a particularly enjoyable conference. Many thanks to MEEA (meea.org) for the opportunity to present my soil macrofauna study for schools.

Hooray! The PlantingScience Fall 2023 Star Projects have been posted!
This year was a bear - 55 nominations to go through, and I had to sit out on some because I was the liaison. So much fun to read them all, though! We selected 22 winners! Check them out! plantingscience.org/index.php?op...

To be fair, their version of Ho-oh is not an owl, but it does look fierce enough to take on some free radicals or something.

I was told I just HAD to read Hurlbert's 1984 article on pseudoreplication in ecological studies, so highly regarded, all of that. I suspect maybe it also had to do with this:
