EVERY time tariffs are mentioned the media ALWAYS remind us who actually pays them !!!!

Sadly there are federal workers who cannot afford another shutdown even though they eventually get back pay. And for sure there are federal contractors working in government offices who DEFINITELY cannot afford another shutdown because we have no guarantee of back pay!!!!

Thanks for not yielding!
i absolutely didn’t want to go through this. But began to see that my financial pain/struggle might yield better outcomes for my grandson’s generation. Now it hurts more-You cannot convince me that those 8 senators didn’t get PAID $$$. Know them as the 8 that ate ‘crow’.

My DC congressional reps have NO vote; you do. i am fed govt contractor on client site now furloughed; using leave for one more check. Benefits expire end Oct. Can’t afford COBRA, ACA, or Medicare Advantage plans. Facing less than adequate Medicaid. END SHUTDOWN NOW! Don’t reply; do something!

I hate the inhumanity and the inequity. I agree wholeheartedly we cannot surrender or succumb to authoritarianism / fascism. But i clearly lack the political sophistication to understand how this shutdown yields anything other than more hardship. So no more comments from me. PRAYING you are right!

Unfortunately protecting health care seems to require destroying the livelihoods of federal workers and contractors.

Somebody needs to explain to me - a DEM contractor on furlough - in plain language how/why subsidized healthcare is more important than safeguarding workers paychecks. This shutdown still is sacrificing the livelihoods of thousands. Wrong train; wrong track. Take the higher ground. END THE SHUTDOWN

Sorry Cory. I am a Dem and the mud will be on your face too. People are living paycheck to paycheck and many could end up with no jobs and no healthcare. Suck it up. Take the CR and come out the Victor because you would show you actually care about what happens to the workers.
September 30, 2025 at 11:14 PM
i am a Dem. Take the CR or Dems will be responsible for tearing apart the livelihoods of countless working Americans who live paycheck to paycheck. Then figure out another way to do this 🙏🏼❣️Both sides are sacrificing lives for BS. Do not allow a shutdown!!
September 30, 2025 at 11:10 PM
Bro Booker wish i could agree with you. Tell me what you know that i don’t. As a cradle Dem it is excruciating to admit that there has to be another way. Save the livelihood of the countless who could be irreparably harmed by a shutdown. That would be a greater triumph. Take the CR!!!

That was then this is now. Who TRUSTS what systems will continue to function?
September 26, 2025 at 7:49 PM
Guess you have a nest egg or are blessed not to live paycheck to paycheck
September 26, 2025 at 7:43 PM
i am a cradle Dem. Dems best be figuring how to avert the shutdown. Doesn’t help to have healthcare that you can’t pay for. The majority of the American people want Trump OUT but they most likely would choose shelter and food on the table which a shutdown puts in NEEDLESS jeopardy. Find another way!
September 26, 2025 at 4:18 PM
Senator Jain. i live in and love DC. However what you need to do at this moment is focus on averting a shutdown. DC surely will be impacted by a work stoppage and workforce reduction. Not to mention those like myself who live paycheck to paycheck. Please realign your priorities.
September 26, 2025 at 12:28 PM
While you fight for healthcare are you going to pay the premiums for federal workers and contractors who might lose their jobs not to mention no back pay.
i am cradle Dem but think the state just called “check; up against the wall MF”
My sugg is keep govt open and fight like hell for fair elections
September 26, 2025 at 12:43 AM
Republicans (those spineless . . .) have again set up the Dems to get blamed for Govt shutdown which plays right into their hands at the ultimate $cost$ to govt workers and soc sec recipients with no assurance impasse could/would be resolved? Find another way; i want my paycheck. Forgive me!
September 23, 2025 at 2:06 AM
Although it’s a noble idea to hold out for budget/CR that would not sacrifice the welfare of the people for tax breaks for the wealthy, you ironically would do just that. Fed workers, contractors, soc sec recipients would not have paychecks to buy food, meds, stay housed.
Just more misery and chaos

i repeat: Threatening Govt shutdown: and what about those of us who would not get their Social Security checks on October 8?? What about the federal employees and government contractors who won’t get paychecks for . . . How long?
