Sadly there are federal workers who cannot afford another shutdown even though they eventually get back pay. And for sure there are federal contractors working in government offices who DEFINITELY cannot afford another shutdown because we have no guarantee of back pay!!!!

i absolutely didn’t want to go through this. But began to see that my financial pain/struggle might yield better outcomes for my grandson’s generation. Now it hurts more-You cannot convince me that those 8 senators didn’t get PAID $$$. Know them as the 8 that ate ‘crow’.

Watching MSNBC discussion re farmers. Just reiterating the problem doesn’t bring attention to the ’suspected’ end game which is to eradicate family farms and replace them with state-loyal conglomerates. Hope there are lots of billboards appearing in rural America.

Dems should request one-on-one meetings with Republicans while they are in their home districts. Go to them. Make peaceful non-violent bus visits to their districts. Call them out on their local media. Tell the tax-paying PEOPLE where they are. Make a way to negotiate.

I hate the inhumanity and the inequity. I agree wholeheartedly we cannot surrender or succumb to authoritarianism / fascism. But i clearly lack the political sophistication to understand how this shutdown yields anything other than more hardship. So no more comments from me. PRAYING you are right!

Senator Jain. i live in and love DC. However what you need to do at this moment is focus on averting a shutdown. DC surely will be impacted by a work stoppage and workforce reduction. Not to mention those like myself who live paycheck to paycheck. Please realign your priorities.

Republicans (those spineless . . .) have again set up the Dems to get blamed for Govt shutdown which plays right into their hands at the ultimate $cost$ to govt workers and soc sec recipients with no assurance impasse could/would be resolved? Find another way; i want my paycheck. Forgive me!

Although it’s a noble idea to hold out for budget/CR that would not sacrifice the welfare of the people for tax breaks for the wealthy, you ironically would do just that. Fed workers, contractors, soc sec recipients would not have paychecks to buy food, meds, stay housed.
