I'm a level 1 MTG judge who has been playing EDH for over a decade. I sometimes write stuff on Substack or help people with decks on DeckTuner. I also watch anime. My hamartia is that I type online like I'm writing novellas.

I love that FUKKIRETA is making a small resurgence.

I am disappointed that some of them don’t sound great.

Also, on @danaroach.bsky.social ‘s brilliant challenge the stats this ep…

If you’re searching on scryfall, using “fo:” (full oracle) instead of “o:” (oracle) can help find things you wouldn’t otherwise because it includes reminder text

E.g. “fo:poison fo:counter” will find Snake Cult Initiation

Great episode! I love comparisons of data like this.

I have a [bracket 2]-only spelltable server that tracks our data and has 618 games logged (you folks have more games recorded than me by now)

We definitely have some different methodology if you ever want to compare HMU

Portal & Portal 2 are my GOATs and so is GlaDOS.

Perfect game. 14/10

The only game I have more connection to is StarCraft/ SC2 and part of that is I climbed ranked ladder to platinum.

The pro of Banker’s Rounding is removing an inflative rounding error in large number analysis

I get that it is the IEEE 754 standard, but it doesn’t seem ideal for graphical rendering - seems impractical to be GameMaker’s default rounding

Thankfully you can write other rounding functions yourself

To clarify:

When I just look at the bar, I'm likely to think the number could be anything: like I could have 70 HP (each bar is worth 10), and I did in the realm of 22 damage, and on the bar it visually rounds to 2 boxes.

When I see the damage number is 2, I know for sure that I did 2 damage.

Visual clarity is good.

It's nice to see how much damage you're doing in a direct way.

And the animation is fun.

I like them.

I'm dumb and when I use a sword and see the bar go down by two pips I don't immediately connect the dots and say "this sword does two damage."

Adding damage numbers makes the happenings feel more transparent and accessible, which is a good feeling.

I don’t understand why anyone could possibly be mad about this.

Displaying numbers adds clarity of information / interaction, which is always a good thing in my book.

When I was 13 I was using Windows Movie Maker to play clips from Naruto with action to the beat of MCR songs.

I could do this now.

Nothings stopping me but myself.

Good move. I don’t like difficulty settings because they make me feel like I played a “different version of the game” than other players.

But I also prefer games to be easier and frustrate me less.

Weird that you timed your ATLA review as MTG is releasing its ATLA crossover cards.

🤔

Most cards are designed for 1v1, with a best-of-three format.

Game balance might be better if we adopt that.
November 8, 2025 at 5:26 PM
Also there was no 4-of rule. You could just run infinite lightning bolt originally.
November 8, 2025 at 5:24 PM
Yes!

IMHO people who aren’t happy to play a 2+ hour durdlefest game should be playing another format too. Commander was designed to be the “LOTR epic” of mtg formats, not the “half hour episodic series.” MTG has so many great formats if you want faster and efficient play

So uh I’m biased I guess

The hybrid mana rule change has been something a niche group of people have been pushing since I started playing in 2009. I don’t care that much, but lean towards not changing it.

Kinda funny how Gavin’s video implies partner was a mistake they made BECAUSE they lacked the tool of hybrid mana tho

I.e.

If it’s player 3’s turn 12, it’s “turn 11.75”

If it’s player 2’s turn 10 but player 3 is K.O’d it’d be “turn 9.66”

If it’s player 1’s turn 1 it’s “turn 0.25”

Etc.

At first I thought I’d be hard/confusing to track but after doing it for a bit it really isn’t.
