My grandma had 6 siblings. She lost 3 within a year and a half of each other. She lost 2 daughters within 2 years.

And even the number of books in the home during infancy has been shown to have a direct impact on language development and future literacy. So many people don’t understand just how valuable books are 😭

I’m trying to create early literacy programs in my community and the stats here are astounding. It’s heartbreaking to see, especially knowing how literacy impacts long term success in just about every part of life.
