Contrary to a diglossia argument, a Kazakh message is perceived mire reliable. The causal effect, however, is dominantly driven by aged subjects who experienced the Soviet time (over 40 yrs). Young subjects don’t respond the same way.

We conclude that our findings suggests a generational gap in recognizing the Russian language: old generations are reminded of the colonial time by Russian communications, while young generations not.
