I’m on Seven and Nine too!

It’s funny - because I never ever expect I will appear on TV, at least that won’t happen in Australia. Maybe this could be my new way to give TV crosses lol

China’s Guanxi in Australian workplaces, and that one-million-dollar question: are work friends real friends?

Final class done! What used to be a desperate visa solution turned out to be my safe haven in the past two years, as I could hide myself in the magic of languages, words and meanings, staying away from drama. Can’t wait to become a court interpreter soon!!!

Back to court observation (as academics know, it’s almost end of semester and I have to catch up with assignments 😅) and I went to the Supreme Court today. Very impressed by the umbrella dryer they put at the entrance…

So we asked this question for you - can being ethnically Chinese make you stand out in a Chinese Australian electorate?

Hello! I'm one of the recipients of the Jesse Cox Audio Fellowship this year, and I'm taking this amazing opportunity to produce a creative non-fiction documentary about romance and love, in the condition of immigration!

I have made a complaint to ABC Ombudsman. This piece is trash.
February 7, 2025 at 12:53 AM
I don’t want to publicly criticise my former employer, but hey ABC News, how can this trash piece pass your editorial board? No direct interviews but words that implied the international graduate is a spy. No context offered either. This is racist.

There’s a reason why ABC doesn’t liveblog the hearing today I guess…

It’s so triggering to read this social post on RedNote/Xiaohongshu - there were already 678k active Australian users on the app last year, way before this refugee trend. It’s almost twice than SMH’s daily readership for their print version at the same time.

Happy New Year!!! I’m taking freelancing this year, while working on a few personal things (will tell you about them later, stay tuned, most of them are fun)

And here’s my first attempt to boost my freelancing career: taking a few new headshots

As someone who left the ABC after going through so many things the racism review has covered, I don’t know how I feel about when reading this:

May I earn enough money to buy a house in Hobart, so that I can move there when turning 34

Thinking of all my ex-colleagues who have been told their contracts not renewed as a result of this Facebook and Google deal. Thinking of those who left the company because their positions were funded by Meta and Google, and hence considered as the exemption of the new Fair Work Provisions.

I highly recommend this book - while it focuses more on healing of severe abuses, it answers lots of questions that HRs and managers have wondered, such as “why no one dare to raise a complaint but keeps telling others that they are bullied”, or “why this person can’t move on from that bullying”.

Very last-minute self promotion, but I’m doing a skill share with Podcast Workers Australia tomorrow on making your podcast bilingual and more interesting, by getting an interpreter involved.
