Thank you! Media in general has a really hard time reporting on nuclear radiation because they do not understand it and it in turn makes the public misunderstand it even more.

I understand why it was built, damage to the dome *is* bad yes. My point was more directed at all the people commenting and quoting this post based on the headline alone acting like the death of all Eastern Europe from radiation is imminent and it just isn't even close to reality.

The adjunct who taught some nuclear engineering courses when I was at university worked on this project, it is pretty incredible. The whole thing is on rails and was built off site and then rolled into place over the top of the old containment.

Nobody really read this did they? This structure sits over the top of the previous tomb built over the facility, it isn't like there is old core material exposed to the atmosphere or something now. It was only installed like a few years ago so you are in as much danger now as you were in 2019.
