I do NOT automatically follow back.

I want to maintain my anonymity here, so few detes. I am a scientist, though I spend little time in the lab anymore.

Not that kind of doctor.

Nerderies: Primarily SFF. brewing, fountain pens, computers.
This. Damn, but I hate changing a perfectly good name for no reason.

I had not read those. And now I think I need a little lie down.

My question is how on earth did it come up that 40 yos didn't know this? I mean, not typical conversation topic.

Happy birthday. May your crust be perfect.

Woz is an engineer. Jobs was a business guy. I don't mean to imply that engineers are universally good - not at all - but maybe we need to stop encouraging business types and their sociopathic, line must go up tendencies.

Only a rich person would be so poor as to refuse one more person at the dinner table.

Some people can't sing. Some can't draw. Some can't troubleshoot a driver issue in Linux.

This hurt to type.

Yeah, this hurt.

Betteridge's Law: The exception.

"Studies have not ruled out the possibility..."

Oh, ffs. That's just science 101.
November 20, 2025 at 12:22 PM
That's great!
November 20, 2025 at 12:18 PM
This. Also, there's a district difference between forgiving someone and refusing to hold them accountable.
November 20, 2025 at 12:16 PM
Thus the "kind of fun to watch" part. 😁

Just a little butter on mine, please. I'll bring beer.

For computer nerds, yes. For the grandparents etc whose computers we're going to have to fix, not so much. Yes, it's MS's fault. But I still cringe at suggesting a non-techie attempt using regedit.

Still, what are you going to do.
November 20, 2025 at 12:02 PM
That would go poorly. Be kind of fun to watch, though.

Is he smart enough to realize that? I'm pretty sure Bondi is.

On the evil/stupid/ambitious scale, I'd rate Kash as more stupid and Bondi as more ambitious. They're all all three, of course, but in different doses.

Christine Sixteen. Yeah, it was everywhere.

Clearly no one that actually uses the software.

And that life choice is ... to be single.

Speaking as a chemist, I find this to be a good word.

No damn idea what Altman is yapping about, though.
November 19, 2025 at 12:34 PM
Hmmm. American buttercream, but with peanut butter. I wonder if that'd cut the sweetness some?
