I can relate. I have chosen not to be around certain family members anymore and my life is better for it. I remember when I was in my 20's, a friend of mine, Beth, had an incredibly difficult time with both parents. So her final solution was to write them a single letter, once a year. It helped alot

When I don’t see my cats for more than 12 hours, I start to get this sinking feeling of dread—usually followed by me wandering around in the dark, calling for them. Five days is a long time. That’s a lot of dread.

The trick with the glass ball is still an all time classic for me. I tried so hard to practice that trick as a kid.

No hard and fast rule for me.. Sometimes I write a paragraph that I'm happy with, enough so to move on with the story. Other times I'll edit immediately after writing something. What about you?

Sorry to hear this. Can you seek legal recomp. in some way? Can you take back ownership of your publishing rights as recomp. at least? If they don't pay royalties what right do they have to continue publishing and earning from your work?
