Ah! Hugh Glass! Since that story took place in my home state when it was an unorganized territory, we're all forced to learn about it and supposedly care about it. One of the reasons a friend of mine moved to Japan was because he couldn't stand the people in our state being so obsessed with it!

Do people not read books, parenting magazine articles, parenting blogs, talk to friends and family and pediatricians, and even watch YouTube tutorials any longer?

I don't know. As a Gen-Xer, all I can say is that my daughter asked me the other day if we had toilet paper in the '90s. Oh, the horrific late 20th century! Where we had no cell phones and had to watch regular TV with commercials and listen to the radio!

This story is me trying to come to terms with feeling 'useless' (I mean, not in the face of apocalypse, just in the face of... everything, life, whatever) and realizing that no one is useless. We might not be fighting, we might not be defending, but we DO have a role to play in the world, always.💖

I always wonder what happens to the bodies or the cremains in a burial after the burial has been excavated and all the grave goods like this pig vessel are removed?

And according to Buddhist ideas, what these people will be reborn as in their next rebirths are also equally bleak. But perhaps after many lifetimes even they might attain liberation and become dedicated Bodhisattvas who will engage in the transformative teaching of all beings to end all suffering.

I live in Brookings! (I used to live in Aberdeen, and am originally from Herreid and Roscoe.) Was your husband born in Watertown?
