Conservation, democracy, human rights, anti-fascism. Democrat living in the beautiful Great Lakes State. Corporate escapee turned one-time butterfly farmer, full-time cat butler. Education is key to our survival but beauty will save the world.
“The Mackinac Bridge performing another disappearing act in a snow squall this morning as viewed looking north from Mackinaw City. The Bridge Authority has issued a Blowing Snow Warning for motorists crossing the Bridge, advising of limited visibility and requiring max speeds of 20 MPH.”

For their who miss it, for those who don't, and for those who've never had the pleasure. Sound up!

Who'd like to tell me what plant this is? Google Lens can't decide whether it's bittersweet or Chinese Lantern. Both exist nearby.

Yes, isn't it instructive? I can't imagine being on the Lakes on that kind of weather.

Never gets old for me. Some of the cliffs are over 30 feet high. Lake Superior is a giant tempestuous cauldron.

This is the world we should strive for: humans taking care of animals and stewarding nature and living in harmony with them. This should be the basis of our entire ethos. Anything else is ignorance and moral sickness based on greed and delusion.

This is so amazing. An American Kestrel (Sparrowhawk) feeding her chicks is something almost no one on earth had been able to witness until the advent of bird cams. Just wonderful.

How wonderful! Isn’t the view from the Bridge amazing? Glad you had the opportunity to visit! Next time you and your daughter need to come to Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes….😊

Les Cheneux Islands, Lake Huron, Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It's like Maine without all the bothersome lobsters!

So hard to know. Do they even know? Or is it just reflex to stay in power?

Yep. Time to dust off this old beauty, just Orthodoxy version: it's about Patriarchy and its appeal to insecure young men.

Northern sunrise. So glad that some people have the gumption to get up early and drive places to catch this fleeting beauty. I'm typically otherwise occupied by dreams of being lost in airports or I'd do it.

We had our first snow last week on November 9 here in northern Michigan at the 45th parallel. About 13 cm fell. That's quite early for us and quite a lot of snow. It definitely feels like a portent of winter weather to come.
