Lo and behond, the US Senate is abandoning any pretext that DAC/CCS should do anything else than help boost oil production.

We've got a big book coming out on carbon removal and geoengineering in October.

If you're interested in doing a review (hence in getting an advance copy) - send me a dm!

"If one does not recognize and understand [the volatility of electricity pricing in liberalized markets] and its implications, one cannot understand the political economy of the decarbonization of power generation. It really is as simple as that."

This is such a great book - a fantastic overview of the political economy of oil and its implications for the prospects of the energy transition.

Highly recommended reading.

This book does such a great job of demonstrating the persistent nature of common Israeli and Western justifications for the escalating violence against Palestinians, and Gaza in particular - what Pappe already in 2017 called 'incremental genocide'.

"...the legislation of the Biden era demonstrates that pragmatism produces better results than dogmatism. ... The path to lasting climate progress lies not in oil and gas antagonism, but in transforming our opponents into stakeholders in a clean energy future."

Finally getting around to reading Doppelganger. Naomi Klein diagnoses our current moment and asks how a society "tips into its fascist double". It's hugely important reading - not least now that we are weeks away from a second Trump presidency.

This is pretty much exactly what you do in the paragraph below. You indeed write about the need for preventive CDR capacity but I don't see how those feasibility concerns wouldn't apply to that as well.

Not difficult to agree to 'transitioning away from ff' language if that is preceded by a mere 'call to contribute to' it, & as part of a shopping list that countries can pick from 'in a nationally determined manner, taking into account ... different national circumstances, pathways & approaches'...
