Some older couple was asking the ranger at Organ Pipes Ntl Monument "where's the rail that was all people had to step over to enter the country". Ranger goggled at him, then said "Well, you can go look, but I think you'll find it's a little different nowadays".

Seminole Canyon, so named because the US Army Black Seminole Scouts used the area while stationed at Fort Clark. Now a Texas state park.

Seminole Canyon State Park also has prehistoric cave art. You'll either have to scroll in close, or take my word for it.

I think this is a coprolite! Which is to say, fossil poop. It's a bunch of crushed (bivalve?) shells on the side of Cretaceous limestone at Seminole Canyon SP, Texas. This is about the most fossiliferous place I've been, there are ammonites everywhere underfoot if you look for them.

I never post food pictures, but this burger came with a brand on its bun. Chorizo on a beef patty, it was excellent.

I like visiting quirky little museums in small towns. This is the Whitehead Memorial Museum in Del Rio, an almost excessively friendly town on the Texas-Mexico border.

"You've been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who's coming to save you?"

I feel sorry for my kidnappers. They will likely get eaten.

I haven't been online much lately because I'm camping with poor cell reception. Went to the beach yesterday. Lots of Horseshoe crab molts (do they molt in the New Moon?).

Anyone know what this is? Found on the inside GOM beach at Cape San Blas, Florida. Appears to be a linked series of cartilaginous discs.

Henry Covered Bridge, Washington County, Ohio. Built ~1894.
Wooden bridges were covered to prevent the structures from rotting.
The inside is graffitied with a surprising number of nice sentiments ("you are loved", "Your beautiful", etc). Except about Alex. Wonder if he deserved this scorn.
