I think it'll be good practice for Ss in determining the meaning of the slope & using slope to make measurements experimentally.

To be fair, I'm not sure 16 yr old me was aware GZA existed, or had even heard of any of the Wu-Tang Clan. (Look, it was very very rural)

So often I'll have done a lab for YEARS and one of you will post, "Hey, you know that tricky bit, I changed this one thing and it's way better!" And it IS way better!
I *love love love* these small tweaks!

As chance would have it nearly all groups rolled 65 and above. Pretty sure that's a statistical fluke but it'd be more pleasing to get a wider range of angles.

I give students the initial velocity (shout out Vernier's repeatably precise Projectile Launcher!) #Teach180

Here's a sort that shows students how many correct they have as they work: classroom.amplify.com/activity/618...
Here are a couple screenshots of what that looks like.

Also a big shout out to intentionally designing spaces for community - the physical design of our neighborhood & specifically our little corner of it facilitates community by including shared public spaces.

Was good practice of lab routines and working w/ sensors in addition to good practice representing motion in multiple ways.
Ss did well & we exposed some misconceptions to address! #Teach180

AP1: I introduced our group roles & protocols, then challenged them to come up with an experimental procedure that will answer the question: "Can we model the motion of a flywheel car using constant velocity?"
Tomorrow we collect and analyze data!

Physics: we jumped right into the Whirlygig Challenge (h/t @fnoschese.bsky.social) Ss picked one thing they could change about the whirligig, then measured how long it took both the OG & changed Whirlygig to fall.
Tomorrow we'll share out results and start the challenge! #Teach180
