Democracy is not divisiveness. If the people tell their leads to divest from Israel's illegal occupation, apartheid, and genocide, then their leaders should do it. I have stood up time and time again for the rights of our residents and, as mayor, I will work to safeguard and expand those rights.

Porchfest is next week! With new safety strategies and 490 participating bands/performances, Somerville will be showing out! If you've got a porch where people will be congregating, make sure to complete it with a Willie for Mayor campaign sign!

It was so gratifying to see so many of my movement friends at the #handsoff protest. Whether fighting for the rights of workers, immigrants, people of color, the LGBTQ community, the disabled community, education, or Palestine, we need to fight together against fascism.

In Somerville, the combination of first, last, security, & brokers fees can often cost a tenant $14,000. By demanding that the person who hires the broker, pays for the broker, Somerville will join a growing choir of municipalities working to lower barriers for renters and keep them in community.

I've got some questions about this incident. There was a complaint made back in July about the safety of this building, a complaint that was seemingly resolved the next day.

The fear is real among so many communities, from trans folks to immigrants & beyond. But it is important to remember that our solidarity keeps us safe. I'll never turn my back on my neighbors & sacrifice them to the altar of Trump. As a city councilor, let me make it clear: ICE is not welcomed here

When we act regionally, we can create statewide change! Hopefully, with the support of the governor, we can end forced broker fees not only for renters in Somerville, Cambridge, and Boston, but all those across the Commonwealth.

Last night, the Somerville City Council passed an end to mandatory parking minimums that I & @benforward3.bsky.social initiated! This is a win for the environment, street safety, & housing affordability! I'm grateful to the residents who urged this action & the City staff that made it possible.
