I wonder how much of New England would rather be Canadian right now. Maybe we should have another Confederation conference and invite some Governors.

Wonderful idea! We should do this in Canada too!
I would love to see a bunch of musical artists and celebrities put on a nationally televised tribute concert for Pres. Jimmy Carter on inauguration day with all proceeds going to Habitat for Humanity.

I’m a huge fan of minimum standards as long as the focus is on the standards part.

So Trudeau is shuffling his cabinet. Isn’t that just rearranging the deck chairs?

If only Trudeau had responded to Trump with, “Funny you should mention that. I was just thinking that California would make a great province!”

If I found a religion worshipping critical thinking, would I still have to pay taxes?

To quote Dave Gunning’s song, “I am preaching to the crowd to sing it louder”
Per @aoc.bsky.social and co., I'm here to celebrate echo chambers and preaching to the choir. Which sings back, beautifully. "The primary assumption behind the idea that we shouldn’t preach to the choir is that one’s proper audience is one’s enemies, not one’s allies." harpers.org/archive/2017...

I’d like this on a shirt but there’s no safe-tee on the street.
Bluesky is a SAFE SPACE for Great Puns.

TERRIBLE puns, yes... But great. 🪄

Good question. Also, have any of these people ever worked cash? Reprogramming is easy for big box stores but not for small business. This measure could cost NB millions of dollars which will hurt OUR efforts to help the poor. 🙄

If, like me, you’re interested in Proportional Representation a good account to follow - @propvoting.bsky.social

See ⏬️ this week’s Passenger Railway Services Bill

Passed, but if each MP was replaced with the number of votes they received at GE, then it would have failed by almost a million

Hmmm
2024-11-19: Passenger Railway Services Bill: motion to disagree with LA1

The 343 MPs voting 'Aye' represented 10,640,334 voters.
The 172 MPs voting 'No' represented 11,469,724 voters.

No majority = 829,390

But result was Aye because seats don't match votes. See ALT text.

I have shared the same bathroom with Sarah McBride on several occasions, and she never once made me uncomfortable. She did however help me fix my makeup. That congresswoman knows how to blend her foundation, which is more than I can say about Donald Trump.

There’s a narrative that Gaetz was a deliberate head-fake — a distraction to boost the real candidate — but I am always suspicious of narratives that attribute four-dimensional chess to trump as opposed to knocking over the table and eating the checkers.

When the Liberals lose the next election, the CBC will be reduced to a minimalist service with no reporters. We need a National Public broadcasting nonprofit. Should we adopt the PBS/NPR model?

Carol Off @caroloff.bsky.social got a well-deserved standing ovation tonight for espousing the defence of liberal democracy. I’m shocked at the degree to which it’s at risk.
