Don’t think this is true… Arizona recognizes Pluto- it’s their state planet!

do people who don't work in middle and high schools realize the extent to which vacuous Charlie Kirk memes are replacing "6-7" in the teenage discourse

Being able to open my Ventra app from home anytime and see the status of a divvy dock just steps away has brought me a peace I didn’t know possible. (Is this what having a kid feels like?) But I continue to maintain- Kensington deserves a divvy dock more than anywhere else! bsky.app/profile/will...
HP has ~ 1,000 public and uni transpo options. Roseland and the Kensington area + surroundings? Not so much. How is it that there’s not only no divvy dock at the south side’s busiest metra station, but efforts to prevent divvys from remaining available there? Could it be.. no one with power cares? 😮

Vote for Ed! Or recruit another candidate to get on the ballot in November!

Generally I do agree it was a shitty and sneaky move- just something that could have been remedied had someone else decided to file.

It won’t be remedied by a grossly exaggerated pronouncement of misdeeds from the House.

Obviously I'm not suggesting Bill Foster should do that. I like Bill Foster and think he's a great for the 11th. My fellow HS science teacher Ed Hershey ran in the general election in the 4th district just last year. Petition signing opens February 25th and filings for the ballot are due on May 26th
November 18, 2025 at 11:21 PM
Of course he did it strategically to give his preferred candidate an advantage. But what Chuy did wasn’t what the resolution says it was! Not even close in my opinion. If Bill Foster is so upset, he can EASILY move to the 4th district and file by May 26 and run as a 3rd party candidate.

People should run against incumbents more often! That should be the lesson. still don’t really get it as a controversy. my state rep is running in the primary unopposed. I’m not a big fan. I should have run! If someone didn’t want Chuy or his chief of staff to be their next rep, the should have run!

Ever since returning from living in Utrecht in 2019 I’ve been shouting into the void that we need ov-fiets in Chicagoland. One day maybe I’ll find time to shout smarter and louder. In the meantime, I’ll take solace that another person thinks maybe it could work in N America bsky.app/profile/will...
would be great to see this longstanding oversight addressed & made up for for by making Kensington a pioneer station in a new metra/pace connected bike share program modeled on ov fiets, providing affordable 1-3 day basic bike rentals at points on the regional transit system in the metrazone

Like i know freight is important, but why wasn’t this mentioned at the ceremony/in the article? bsky.app/profile/arch...
It also is only the first step of what is really a transformative disentangling.

SWS will end up at LaSalle St. Station, allowing for more service along the entire line, including IIT/Sox Park, & opening more platforms at Union Station for increasing other services.

I’m not necessarily saying it was- I don’t know. But regardless it’s surprising that 1. various officials at the ceremony, weeks after NITA passed, apparently didn’t think to say ‘we’re going to run more trains for passengers’ as a result this and 2. that it wasn’t mentioned in the reporting, either
November 15, 2025 at 6:06 PM
could* use this train (because they currently can’t)
November 15, 2025 at 3:40 PM
Should an investment north of $350 million have us wondering about infill stations and more service? Like maybe people in Ashburn use this train on, I don’t know, Saturdays?
November 15, 2025 at 3:39 PM
I live at 53rd/Dorchester so you know I'm loving this. But- Kensington when?
November 14, 2025 at 6:52 PM
Any word on what ‘modest service level increases’ look like?

I saw the new one at 55th and Harper yesterday and was pleased! But you know what’s absolutely wild? Divvy staff actively ‘balances’ edivvys AWAY from the busiest metra station on the south side, which happens to be on the far south side- a transit underserved community.
November 13, 2025 at 1:51 PM
Also- it’s very difficult for me to support the tribune. I was a subscriber my whole adult life until about 3 years ago when the private equity nonsense got too much for me (the insufferable editorializing had always been a given)
November 9, 2025 at 1:43 AM
I’ve been thinking about what an appropriate amount of money to spend supporting local news is. Hear a lot of ‘support us’ but cumulatively- what is the right value? My thinking has been if you make 50k a year, pay for something like $20/mo of local news, if you make 100k give something like $50/mo?
November 9, 2025 at 1:41 AM
Filing deadline was yesterday, still not sure if anyone’s running against my state rep (25th)- looking for intel if you got it
November 5, 2025 at 5:49 AM
I’m still partial to the Columbus-Ohio tunnel- it’s embarrassing how poorly transit served the densest community area is.
November 3, 2025 at 1:40 PM
I hope it’s more than just more consistent and reliable L and bus service, expansion of bus priority systems, and expansion of all day/all week Metra schedules, but I also hope it’s at least that
November 2, 2025 at 2:52 AM
Fuck yeah. Next step- strong arming SSL into reopening a stop where it joins the mainline in Pullman.
