I used to think there was something special about Arsenal, but it turned out to just be entirely due to Wenger and Montemurro being exceptional managers, but even that doesn’t necessarily say anything about them as people, given the former’s turn to FIFA apologist.

I think a lot of it goes back to Arteta and his cult of personality, but the club clearly has a thing for those kind of men who value power and control above all, which led to the women’s team being hijacked by a possible white supremacist for multiple years.

As the article says, elite men’s football and rape culture are deeply entrenched. People like players like Partey and Ron*ldo not in spite of their allegations, but specifically because of them. You can’t follow the elite men’s game and avoid it, but I do think Arsenal are particularly rotten.
