My email to @cyclinguk.bsky.social. I do not support transphobia, and I do not support organisations that are transphobic.
An email to Cycling UK, addressed to their membership address, and their CEO, Sarah Mitchell. It reads: For several years now, I've been a vocal cheerleader for Cycling UK, and genuinely thought that in Cycling UK I had found my people. I personally managed to get a significant number of people to join Cycling UK as members, and I regularly praised you on social media. I was therefore very disappointed to discover that I was wrong about you, and that Cycling UK is transphobic. I passionately believe ALL people are equal, and that trans people have been vilified by the media, and most political parties, as part of a broader culture war, without any thought of how that impacts on the lives of trans people. Multiple trans people, such as Brianna Ghey, were callously murdered, precisely because of this sort of hatred being stoked. I was deeply disappointed to learn that Cycling UK was joining in that culture war, by excluding trans women from your Woman In Cycling feature. I refuse to support any organisation that supports transphobia, and whose actions and choices actively helps make the lives of trans people even worse than what they already are. You should be ashamed of yourselves! Please cancel my membership with immediate effect. Kind regards,

Youngest daughter and I cycling along the Plym Valley trail today. The autumnal colours are beautiful.

From this still image, you can see the silver car ahead. The van driver (who you can clearly see was looking at me at this point) decided that I was just a cyclist, and that he was going to pull out regardless. He paused for a moment, then just kept going.

You're a van driver. You're trying to pull out of a driveway. There are cars driving, so you wait to let them pass.
After the cars, there's a cyclist in hivis, with lights on + a camera.
Do you:
a) Pull out regardless, flicking Vs at the cyclist
b) Wait until it's safe

Runners, if you do this, then you're an absolutely selfish prick.
There's a wide pavement, but this runner uses the cycle lane, along a busy, 40 mph road, forcing cyclists into the car lanes.
Get in the sea!

#Dartmoor is one of my most favourite places on earth.

My new rear-camera mount for my bike.
The actual camera mount is affixed to a Topeak slide-lock attachment, which slides and clicks into place on the rear rack.
This makes for quick and easy removal.
The Topeak slider just being slid into the groove on the bicycle rack. The Topeak slider slid halfway along the rack. The camera attachment has a camera clamped in place The Topeak slider slid fully into place, and locked to it can't inadvertently slide out again.

Just published this comment on my Somerset Circle route guide (www.willcycle.com/2021/02/25/g...) - it really made my day:
I have just got back from riding this over two days and absolutely loved it. I rode it on a 1995 Dawes Galaxy with (I think) 28mm tyres. For the vast majority of the ride it was absolutely fine, but there were some bits where the gravel got annoying so I certainly wouldn’t recommend doing it on anything more “roady”. It’s a fabulous route; really really nice. Wonderful scenery, mostly off-road and when you are on roads, they’re quiet or really short (<5 minutes) sections of busy . I'd be happy to ride this route with a child. For me, personally, the highlight of the ride was when I picked up Colliers Way cycle route down to almost all the way in to Bath. I rode it on the second of my two days when my legs were tired and I'd done a few hills with my heavy bike and just at the point I was thinking "I need another rest", you turn onto this lovely smooth path that is gently downhill for what felt like ages. It was wonderful. Really raised my spirits and gave my legs a rest. I got chatting to lots of different people along the way, which was wonderful too. Riding the route feels like you're being directed by someone local who knows all the best bits to avoid cars and show you the best views. It really is a fabulous route. I thoroughly recommend.
