I named my youngest son after him. His name from Greek literally translates as “freer of men” or “liberator”. Such a name for an abolitionist was quite appropriate. I only hope my 3yo grows up to resemble his namesake.

It may depend on the specific fish, but I definitely believe you could hold your breath longer than a fish.

I assume these are not actual events but a mockup of potential events since they are all scheduled for 9:25pm. Should we discuss by DM what specific kind of feedback that you would find beneficial? I am willing to communicate but am not this kind of technical.

Poverty is literally missed opportunity and evidence of easily identifiable investments. It impoverishes the whole economy by dragging down GDP growth potential by 1-1.5%. Ending it makes us all richer by better integrating the economy. Most people aren’t poor. A UBI leverages minds ending poverty.

Wow, you are absolutely right and I have loved your books. We should lean into objective compassion. It works. Invest in individual humans and trust that humans enrich by being. Don’t allow fear and hatred to prevent starting something that works even if it won’t solve all problems.

So some people in this country have gotten rich with the help of a UBI. It also has reduced child poverty by 20-50% and poverty amongst rural Alaskan natives by 25%. It has done all this through investment and patience without any taxation making it happen.

That dividend now amounts to a UBI of around 10% of the poverty line. It is correct that, by itself, this doesn’t make everyone rich, but it does provide collateral that can be used for a loan to start a business. It has helped businesses get a start and been shown to facilitate entrepreneurship.

You are right about the US stock market being an incredible economic engine. The state of Alaska began investing in it in 1976 with the Alaska Permanent Fund. That investment has grown to $80 billion. With that, everyone has received a dividend each year since 1982.

A UBI varies benefit without excluding anyone due to the wonder of the graph of a/x. When you put a constant, the basic income, over a variable, the income the recipient had before, those with less receive proportionally more. I hope this helps.

My preprint of “Universal Basic Income and Value Realization” at doi.org/10.31235/osf... discusses how to make something like this work. Your intuition is spot on though. I did my work on how to implement in the U.S., but since Canada has about a 9th the population, dividing by 9 gets there.

There has been a UBI in Alaska since 1982. They implemented a permanent invested from oil revenues that has grown to over 80 billion dollars. They now receive around 10% of the poverty line every year. It reduces child poverty by 20-50% and poverty amongst rural Alaskan natives by 25%.

The APFD which is a UBI around 10% of the poverty line in Alaska reduces child poverty by 20-50% and poverty amongst rural Alaskan Natives by 25%. We don’t need to appeal to the Protestant Work Ethic to justify it. A UBI makes the economy more inclusive which makes us all richer.

I homeschool a 16yo, a 9yo, and a 3yo. My wife has a normal full time career as a software engineer. I know that I can dedicate as much time to the home as I do, because I am fortunate enough to have that option. With a UBI, increased investment in our children would be available for everyone.

The Exchange Stabilization Fund has access to up to 221 billion partially made up of deposits in the IMF. Using it stabilizes currencies. It has never made a loss. Mexico paid us back with interest. I hope Argentina is able to recover as well. I’m optimistic in spite of the bad motives from the U.S.

Stabilizing Argentina isn’t charity; it’s normalization. A reliable, functioning Argentina benefits the entire global economy, much like the U.S. support that helped Mexico back to stability in the 1990s.

The narcoterrorist lie is an effort to demonize all Venezuelan refugees as a national threat to make it easier to deport them and also kill them before they get here. It really isn’t about the oil this time. He is simply that prejudiced.

Joe Biden should have resigned the presidency. That would have made Harris president and given her a fighting chance as an incumbent.

I wouldn’t call his plan to instruct the government to give him 230 million dollars working for no money.

I remember the 90s. I remember Rabin, Peres, Carter, and Clinton. I lament the assassination of Rabin. Social media plays into cognitive biases. Judaism has mostly assimilated into the United States. I live in the South. There has been great progress. There will be again.

Don’t let the world change you. No one defines you, but you. I have read much of what you have written that genuinely desires everyone to have better lives. That is worth holding onto.
