Is Paul Soglin on the WSJ’s editorial board? The reason I ask is that the WSJ’s endorsements for Madison alder candidates look like Paul was selecting the candidates to endorse.

The discussion at the Madison Urban Design Commission about the proposed amendment to the Lampe House Ad Hoc Committee Report, which was incorporated into the city’s Comprehensive Plan, demonstrates why the layers of multiple plans and regulations that impede development is absurd.

At tonight’s public meeting about the draft Brayton Lot RFP, some folks were indignant that the RFP doesn’t encourage developers to propose less than the 10 stories that the Common Council has explicitly allowed on this site. In Madison, trying to undo decisions is the norm.

The lovely mural being painted on the side of Steve Brown Apartments’ Henry Gillman Apartments. The Madison city government made the building owner jump through hoops to obtain permission to spends its money to hire someone to paint a work of art on its building.
