@gander22h.bsky.social . I didn't want to hijacked another post. I have been around long enough to not to expect perfection from any leader. I wish we had a president like your Prime Minister.

I doubt this will come as much surprise to those of us that have been disappointed at the news media coverage in the last or 4 decades.

We can see the danger. I am not sure how we can fix it.

Euphemisms and false balance: how the media is helping to normalise far-right views
The mainstream media doesn’t simply cover far-right politics from a critical distance, it also helps to define what counts as politically acceptable.

I would have expected Oregon or Colorado to be for the first.

On a positive note.

My wife retired the end of June. However she had gone back part time to help train the two replacements for her and direct peer. There are only three people that do what she did and two of them retired this year.

Our absolute favorite winey closed on July 31. No the worse thing that happened this year. Just another disappointment.

We finally got everything out of the in-laws house the day it closed a 5pm, we had til 6.

When I wasn't helping my wife with her parents place I was taking Martini to her oncology appointments.

In June two weeks after her 15th birthday Martini died.

As we sorted through things. Boxed them up or donated them. Getting the house ready for sale our 1500 square foot house she starting to resemblance a borders house. My brother-in-laws house, which is much bigger wasn't much better. His partner had just ha to clean out and sell two uncles houses.

In the beginning of February my mother-in-law died. In addition to the emotional deviation it set in motion the settling of the estate. As started going through things, and my mother-in-law had some very nice things. Iit struck me how pointless material possessions are.

December and January my mother-in-laws spent in and out of the hospital. On New Year's eve our Cat Martini was with cancer. Yeah happy New Year's to you too.

By June the friend I spoke of above could hardly walk, and was mostly confined to a wheelchair. Which ment she was basically house bound. The end of August she was diagnosed with ALS. In October just a week after her 70th birthday she died.

She had never needed to have a credit card in her own name, and all of the utilities were in my father-in-laws name. Everything else was in a trust so it was no big deal.

My father-in-law had set every up on automatic bill pay before he got dementia. However nothing was documented. So my wife had to spend a lot of time helping her mother navigate straighting out all the finances.

In February my mother-in-law's accounts got hacked. Fortunately the credit union caught it before she lost any money. The end of February my father-in-law died. Hehad dementia and it was getting pretty bad. Fortunately he died before we had to make the hard choice of putting him in care.

I haven't been a round for a while. We have had a rough couple of years.

In January of 24 we were on vacation with friends and she began developing a limp. No pain just weakness in one leg. Also my mother in-laws arthritis was getting so bad she couldn't hardly walk.

Many of you have seen this before, some times in bits and pieces. Many of you don't even need to see it to get it. What we are experiencing isn't anything new. We have seen it time and time before.

I only hope we can stop it before it's too late. If it isn't already.
July 14, 2025 at 6:59 PM
Exactly.

I am getting so sick and tired of people in the aftermath of a tragic situation saying it's politicizing it to talk about how to fix what's broken.

If your car is broken down on the side of the interstate is it politicizing it to say "I think we might need a new transmission."
Let’s put this to bed.
