Josh O’Connor is, of course, incredible in this and a true star.

I’m so excited to fill blind spots and revisit the work. The documentary highlights how much these films sing and how much better they look comparatively to any film made this year

and as the film goes on, the political machinations that dominate and develop during the third act, centred by a phenomenal Machiavellian performance by Denzel, really take centre stage to give a heft to the whole enterprise that I think is more intelligent than given credit for.

It’s by no means perfect - the 12 camera set up, which enables Scott to shoot very quickly results in a film made up from coverage rather than intent, and there isn’t a single memorable image here…that said it is still spectacular
