Yesterday I had the Costco $1.50 hot dog for the first time. It's not just one of the best (only?) $1.50 hot dogs I've ever had, it's just one of the best hot dogs I've ever had. Obviously split and grilled would be better preparation, but the sausage itself is top-notch.

Now @charlotte-fc.bsky.social picking up Drake Callender makes a LITTLE more sense. Feels like maybe that's been in the works for awhile, because the only way I can make it make total sense in my mind is if we were still in the US Open Cup and/or Leagues Cup.

I have serious questions for the authors of the AWS Provider for Terraform. About 40% of boolean values get encoded as strings in the plan output. Worse, different versions of the provider encode the same boolean attributes differently over time. I'm trying to write policy-as-code here! Send help!

@altmadison.bsky.social thank you for frequently reminding me to drive safely. It actually does make me conscious of being safe. (Posted from the safety of my office chair).

@carolinaascentfc.bsky.social sad to see the playoffs end on a questionable non-call, but love that you've brought Charlotte its first ever top-tier pro sports trophy. Love the community and atmosphere you've built, and can't wait to climb with you again next season. Get good rest, and smile.

Come on @carolinaascentfc.bsky.social, let's get that point. Let's get all three!

@standupmaths.bsky.social I'm sorry I failed to get a picture. At the local donut shop, they had a coffee cup shaped like a donut, which topologically is dissimilar to both a donut and coffee cup. Does it have three holes? (Cut the top edge off a donut and put a handle on the side.)

Really glad he found a good club to play for. We'll definitely miss him. #ForTheCrown #PorLaCorona
Welcome back to Philly, Ben!

My first guess on Connections today:
🟨🟦🟩🟪
My wife's first guess:
🟨🟦🟩🟪
My daughter figured out yellow, and thought "that's got to be what messed Mom and Dad up", so she went with:
🟨🟦🟩🟪

Slipped on a banana peel by trying to avoid the banana peel.

The magnetic lids stoppers on Yeti cups? Just printed a fidget like those - you insert the magnets halfway through the print. When it was done, I warped the build plate to free them and they wouldn't come off. Finally realized "they're magnets, you dummy". I'm an engineer. People think I'm smart.

Other clubs have games in hand, but good to see Ascent get back to winning.
With a 3-0 win over Dallas Trinity FC, @carolinaascentfc.bsky.social leads the USL Super League standings for the first time in 2025.

With 34 points - and upcoming fixtures against the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place teams - the Carolina Ascent control their playoff destiny in the final seven matches.

All the football today. #YNWA followed by @carolinaascentfc.bsky.social at home followed by #USWNT

With #Liverpool up by 11 points with 11 to play, I'm still not comfortable. Feels a lot like a 2-0 lead. You draw two that Arsenal win, and suddenly you're only up by 7 and Arsenal have a game in hand. Like, it's the hope that kills you, so I refuse to have it yet. #YNWA #LFC

@briandunseth.bsky.social @briandunseth.bsky.social you're a year late recognizing how good Privett and Malanda are together (except immediately after you guys talked about them Morris got between them and made them look silly. )

Heh. #Charlotte with a higher xG than Seattle. #ForTheCrown #PorLaCorona

Apple, you've had three years to figure this out. If I click play on Seattle vs Charlotte, just take me to LAFC vs MNUFC, then switch to countdown, then 360, and then finally when it's time for my game, switch. Why do I have to do all the switching?

I love policy as code. And generally it's not complicated to write. But then, if you're trying to enforce a policy on AWS IAM policy documents, it's a serious pain.

I LOVED seeing Ageymang score in both games for #USMNT - I screamed so loud at my television - but I also realize that he's realistically at least eighth on the depth chart at striker, so maybe we'll see him again next January. #ForTheCrown #PorLaCorona

Tim Ream showing up at January USMNT camp

Absolutely criminal that #USMNT didn't call Andrew Privett up for Camp Cupcake. Bring Tim Ream as a consultant, not a roster position, and call up Privett. #ForTheCrown #PorLaCorona

The saga continues. Yesterday, to familiarize myself with a new codebase, I started by making a test fail to ensure I knew what was what. My change didn't cause a failure. After two hours of trying to diagnose it, it was because I made a change in a function called test_sample_2
Spent some time over the past couple of days teaching junior developers how to reorganize code to make it testable. To put the instruction to practice, started working on some vendor-provided code. Only to find that some of the dependencies to inject are 1) global variables, and 2) never set.
