Genius
Curious to see if they find a way to argue that there should be exceptions to the 14th amendment that would not implicitly open the door for more restrictions on gun ownership.

We had a rescue cat that came to us with severe dental problems. Half her teeth had to be extracted and it really did completely change her personality. We named her Bumble.

Honey claimed this chair the day we brought her home from the shelter. It's the most comfortable chair in our living room. It belongs to her now.

Do it! I have no interest in wrestling and I don't know you personally, but somehow your wrestling posts still brighten my day. The purity of your joy is just really fun to see.

That's not fair. I definitely respect people with disabilities. I'm thinking about using terms like idiot in reference to (for example) our current president, not people with developmental disabilities. But now that I've been educated, I'll be more careful with my usage.

Fair. I agree with this, and I don't know why I got myself into this debate at this point. Thanks for taking the time to set me straight.

Sure. I'm not defending those people, and I sincerely hope I'm not one of them. But I do think it's reasonable to ask at what point does the original usage cease to matter. Is it hurtful for me to call Trump an idiot because that term referred to people with developmental disabilities in the past?

I get it. But I just googled "moron" and learned that it was coined by a eugenicist in 1910. Here we are 115 years later, and it's a term widely used as generally referring to stupid people. I think the vast majority of speakers and listeners have no idea that this term has hurtful origins.

I will definitely think about this. There's a tension here between the natural evolution of language and the hurtfulness of historical usage. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
